  • I currently have a 3rd party device (Amp Research Power Steps) connected to the vehicles OBD-II port via an OBD-II T-connection. Will using FORScan to read/save/write to the vehicles modules damage the 3rd part device that is connected to the OBD-II port or should the 3rd party device be disconnected from the OBD-II port while using FORScan?
I am going to assume all 3rd party devices should be removed while using FORScan ??
Yeah I'm not sure if that's the case; I haven't seen anyone report any problems programming who was using one of these devices.

Unless you are fine with having the DTC. It's not a major DTC that will trigger the engine warning light on the instrument panel so many guys are content living with it.

What is DTC?
And will my speedometer, odometer, and anything else affected function correctly?

While it may be more in depth than changing things with FORScan there have been many bricked ECM's in the diesel world trying to write through those adapters. Not worth that risk IMHO.

So this is why I suggest adding something to the tutorial FAQs. I'm sure others will have this same question.

I'm sorry to bring this back up but i have searched the thread and can't find it.

Where is the list of acronyms showing what each module name stands for? Doesn't IPC stand for Instrument Panel Cluster?

Also, is there a module for the steering wheel buttons?

Yes, IPC = Instrument Panel.

Forscan will give you a listing when you read your modules

No specific module for the steering wheel buttons. I would hazard a guess that they are linked to the APIM

The steering wheel buttons are in the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)
