Dang! I had the same problem as Flamingtaco!
but it seems my cat was already gone- it just left a carpet of fur on the firewall insulation and the plastic intake cover!

You can run foulers and not have the CEL. Also, really depends on engine and mods if there is any power to be gained by doing so.

I'm a little surprised the forum allows tips and tricks to be shared of how to do it considering we aren't allow to say we drive above the speed limit.
Maybe the OP meant for off-road use only, and simply forgot to add that...

I'm just curious as to what agency would be citing an individual for a modification to the exhaust system, if an emissions test/inspection is not required in that part of the state. Businesses get busted for doing it, but I have not heard of a vehicle owner being cited.

most annoying thing about cat delete is rollin around with exhaust that stinks. Ok when you're rippin race gas thru your drag car... annoying when you're stitting at a traffic light.

Where I live in Oregon and just above me in Washington state, the state troopers will pull you over and if it doesn't sound or look right they get their mirror out and then their camera and then their ticket book. All peace Officers around here are also considered by law to be DOT inspectors. Most state laws also mirror federal law when it comes to emissions related equipment and that's how they get away with it. But if you just want high flow catted down pipes try spd performance. They are just south of me here in Oregon. I called them and was told that they would do me no good unless I added a supercharger. They also claim no CEL's with their cats.

Pretty obvious sitting behind a car that has the cats deleted, it stinks. If only cops would write tickets for this and things like blue headlights and squated trucks. Alas, they are lazy and prefer to sit parked with the radar gun on.

yeah like some cop wants to dive under a car to see if there are cats... then they have to become car experts and smelling experts in a court of law.

Don't need to crawl under, just need the mirror on a pole.

that's exactly what they do here, and the super troopers are experts when it comes to vehicle inspection and emissions equipment. State troopers here are required to do so many inspections in a shift.
