Remote Tailgate Warning
You can also buy and program a FOB from a lower trim level without the remote tailgate release. I don't have that button on my remote, but I do have a problem with the other buttons getting accidentally pressed in my pocket. I would love a smaller FOB with no buttons at all.
Here's two ideas.
First, maybe get a simple rubber fob cover that will make the buttons effectively recessed or a leather cover that goes over the whole fob. That may make it harder to hit a button in your pocket.
Second, you could get something like a kids napping mat that they use in kindergarten, cut it up and attach it to the inside of your garage door where the tailgate would hit it. Then you would be protected if the tailgate dropped. You would have to check it before raising the garage door, but it would at least help.
Good luck! Mine hasn't dropped unexpectedly... Yet.

From the Man-well:
The electronic tailgate release will not
operate when:
• The battery voltage is below the
minimum operating voltage.
• The vehicle speed is at or above 3 mph
(5 km/h).

My tailgate has unknowingly released twice , fortunately my bed cover won't allow it to drop down and I found it released while walking around the truck doing a visual check I'm sure I released it because I had the fob in my pocket for I have also set off the alarm at many a improper moment i.e. 5 in the morning or 11 at night . An on / off switch on the side sounds to me like a great idea.... Additional NOTE
I saw in a later post the leather fob cover from dragon at Amazon I've ordered one with hopes it will make a difference , thanks for sharing the link

Why didn't they just tie the rear sonar with the tailgate release if something was to close it doesn't work just a piece of software... it's all right there just have to put the two ends together!!!
Thanks and glad to see some agree about the FOB being a pain. I have to carry two of these bulky things, one for my XLT and one for the KR I set off alarms all the time just having them in my pocket. Oddly, we went to bed, and closed the garage. My Wifes keys were in her purse and mine were on the spot I always take them out and keep them. I went to open the garage having just picked up my keys and thats when I heard the sickening sound. For the life of us we cant figure out how the thing got tripped, but it had to have been when I picked up my keys.
The other fear is remote starting. we've already opened the tailgate by accident trying to remote start. (we don't remote start in our garage.. that would be stupid) Yes, its our fault but man it is so easy to double tap the wrong button. I never remote start now because I could picture my tailgate dropping open on the hood of a parked car full of lawyers in a Bugatti or something my luck.
I like the Idea KEVININCHICAGO had...a small switch would be perfect.

1) your signature says 3.4 Eco
2) Im on the fence about this option. If my hand is free to press the button to lower the tailgate, is my hand not free to just manually open it? I mean its cool I suppose, but just not sure how practical it really is?
3) that sucks. bad. Pics?
