Push button start or Key
Key. I want the thing to turn off when I turn the switch off. Not request a shut off through a microcontroller. Speaking as someone that designs microcontroller stuff.
I don't find proximity unlock that much more exciting than push button unlock.

Another thread got diverted on the subject of push button vs keys. It was a mix conversation of personal preference and security.
I personally won't buy a new car without pbs and like the 'police mode' that can be programed with forscan to lock the shifter if I exit the car while its still running.
This took us into the debate about fob cloning. Does anyone have stats on fob cloning? Ive seen the articles that it can be done but not how many times its been used in a real world theft. As for keys I've seen many times when people jump out for a second and their car was stolen or they get car jacked.
What's your preference

Push Button Start and intelligent door access all the way. One of the biggest reasons I went with the Lariat. After having it for over a year, I would not buy a new vehicle without it.
Edit: As others mentioned, I also love the convenience of leaving the truck running when running into the store quick and not worrying about it being stolen with the 'police mode' enabled via Forscan.

why not have a no preference option? i have key on both my current vehicles. have had push start on several former vehicles. wife is nostalgic and prefers a key. i just want it to start and take me places safely.
I had a 2016 Mustang GT Premium for a few days before my truck, LOVED the pushed button start. With your keys in your pocket, touch the inside of the door handle to unlock the car, push button start, touch the top of the handle to lock it.
I wouldn't buy a vehicle just because of that, but it's a cool feature.

Looking to upgrade my existing F150 which just has a key. I like the push button start, but need to be able to leave the key fob in the truck occasionally. By default I don't believe it will lock with the fob in the truck. Is there a setting in the dash to allow this?
