Default Major problem

Figured i would use the whole click bait thing from youtube lol

Im finally joining the club and getting a new f150. Im going after a new leftover 2017 for the costs but my problem is there arent too many long box options. I found a brand new platinum short box for 56,500 Canadian or a brand new lariat sport 502A long box for the same price. Both are super crews with the pano roof. My problem is im coming from a 6.5ft bed truck now and although i dont use the truck for work i do have it filled every now and then when we go on trips and other activites. Im sure there are guys who went from the 6.5ft to the 5.5ft so im hoping some of you can chime in with and feedback about that choice. Thanks in advance

.3048 meters. That IS a big problem!

With your previous 6.5' bed did you have room left over on trips or was it packed full? Common sense here...if it was packed full then you'll need another 6.5' bed...

Ok I went the other way from a 5'5" to the 6'5" bed. Had the 5'5" on my 2012 and it was OK but always wished for more loading room. An extra foot doesn't sound like a lot but I'm very happy I got the 6'5" bed on my new Lariat. I do load things that the extra length is real handy. Can also flip down the cargo extender and haul 8' lumber real easy now.

If you really didn't use the 6'5" bed don't think you'll miss it very much. Not like you can't haul the same length just that the 6'5" made it easier...

I just came from a 6.5 bed to the Platinum with a 5.5 bed. There is only my wife and I so most of the stuff we pack now goes in the back seat area. I have not run into Any problems loading stuff in the bed yet. I get pretty creative when I load just about anything so I don't think there will be a problem. If I need more bed space I drop the gate for ply or 2X lumber.

I have no use for the 5.5' bed. If I can't haul 12' lengths of lumber or pipe, it's not much of a truck, in my opinion.

On the other hand, if you're working with concrete and brick, maybe the 5.5' bed is fine.

Do you need the crew cab or would a super cab be enough. They are all 6.5 ft beds.

Have your dealer perform a search. My dealer went 225 miles to find me a 6.5ft Platinum.

I looked around for over a year to get a good deal on one with a 6.5ft bed. I need the extra space and personally I like the way the truck looks a lot more with the longer box.

I’ve had zero issues with the 5.5’ bed (Platinum). The few times I’ve had to carry 8’ lumber, the tailgate comes down... but you have the same issue on the 6.5’. I’ve carried refrigerators, motorcycles, and lots of lumber with no problems.

For my wife and I, the back seat is usually up and acts as a large trunk. The bed is the mega-trunk.

Also the extra foot makes parking a bit tougher.
