MAC Address?
Over the air updates are only available with SYNC 3. SYNC, SYNC with MyFord, and MyFord Touch still require you to download the update from our website and put it on to a USB flash drive to perform the installation.

I'm rehashing this to prevent starting a new thread. I need to find my truck's MAC address because of the security settings on my home WiFi. I can't connect to it without the MAC. Is there any updated info on this? I am already updated to the latest Sync version, so that won't work for me; it won't create an .xml file with the MAC on it. Thanks!

As far as your need to find the Mac address - doesn't seem much way other than those noted - check your router and the Sync update, unfortunately I've deleted my last Sync update files so I can't look in mine to see if it is there or not.
If you want to go digging you can go into the diagnostics screens of Sync - do it at your own risk - Go to an FM station, then hold CD Eject button and Seek Up button at the same time - several menus there - might dig far enough to expose the Mac address somewhere. I'm not convinced that there isn't a way somewhere to show or expose the Mac address, but Ford is making it very hard to do so.

Can you clarify what you are trying to do?

He's trying to get the MAC, as even cheap $7 Devices from China provide. Why? Because he has his home Lan setup to only allow devices with specific Mac addresses for security reasons.
OP, you might be able to setup logging in your router of the Mac attempting to access....then you would have it.

Thank you all for the replies. I understand that Sync 2 will not update over WiFi, but there really is no other reason to be connected, I suppose. I reckon I'll just give it up and move on to other worthwhile conundrums.
@FORD TEAM ... PLEASE STOP ASKING UNRELATED OR PERHAPS DIVERTING QUESTIONS AND GET THE ANSWER TO THE WELL REHASHED QUESTION:
WHERE/HOW A USER CAN FIND WIFI MAC ID NUMBER IN THE FORD WIFI EQUIPPED VEHICLE?
I am in similar situation as OP and other posters ... I need to connect my SYNC3 to ISP network of hotspots and to my homenet . Both are protected by ACL (access control list) measures, and require device MAC ID to be entered into the ACL before access is granted (memo to FORD TEAM, that is the technical reason ... no need to ask any more supporting/deflecting questions).
I know I can use wifi scanner, or get the unprotected router, or some other unorthodox measures to get the SYNC3 MAC ID. But this should not be that difficult ... every other WiFi enabled device has its MAC ID clearly displayed somewhere. It is a part of WiFi standard.
Maybe in an update they will expose the Mac address one day. Just another example of the legacy car makers about to get thier butts kicked for a lot of lip game about how they are keeping up with technology, but not even understanding it.
I'll say though if you are within range of your router, even if you are using security by limiting MAC addresses, you should be able to get it fairly easy.
If you want to see technology in a car and security at play go find the Tesla hacking threads - they are on top of it. The Tesla's have so much going on in them and so much "required" connectivity back to the mother ship and security it is almost scary. Now that can be taken to the other extreme as well because it's all but impossible to do any hacking to your own car - it is way locked down and controlled.
