Give it a try and see if you have improvement.

The update is not yet available. It's still expected to make its debut by the end of the year.

Is it just a V2 update or does it include anything beyond the already installed V2?

It did work for about an hour and then it disconnected. the spotify - ford logos disappeared from the phone screen and sync 3 couldn't control spotify via the app until I physically disconnected the cable a reconnected it a few times. then it crashed again and I switched to BT. I hope this will get fixed.

Because the update hasn't been released, I'm unable to make any speculations on what it will include.

After the latest Spotify app update, has anyone else had the Spotify app on Sync disappear? Also noticed that on my phone (android) I now get a 'Smartlink' icon whenever my phone is connected to the truck.

Googled and found a similar thread on another ford forum:

I noticed the new Smartlink connection the other day. not sure when/how that happened, obviously some sort of update. I have also been having more intermittent issues with connections and spotify. Most recently was when I would select bluetooth from my sources, normally it would just open Spotify back up to wherever it left off, but instead was telling me to connect a bluetooth stereo device. My phone was connected and would make calls fine. I've stopped keeping up with when it works and when it doesn't. Sooner or later something gets updated to fix whatever issue and then it will get all buggy again.

This seems to have happened with most users. One customer was able to downgrade the app to the previous version; the issue was resolved. If you're able to access other apps, please contact Spotify for assistance.
