Potted this snowflake looking patch at the top, passenger side of my windshield today. There is a tiny spot similar to it on the drivers side also, but much much smaller.

Any idea what it is? Separation?

Yeah, that's worth a new windshield under warranty. That's called de lamination. It's only gonna get worse. Warranty should cover that with no questions.

remember it's a dealer.... They will say the tint made the windshield fail. Unless you have a unicorn "good dealer"...

Is it the tint that is separating or is it the actual windshield?

Lol unicorns are so magical. Back to topic. I agree with Rexey. I do warranty work for a window company. Anytime there is a secondary film on a window such as tint and comes warranty work because a window cracked or failed(moisture in between panes) it is NOT covered by warranty. I would be the bearer of bad news as they would have to pay full price on a piece of glass plus labor. Remember if it wasn't installed at the dealer or factory and not in writing by the dealer it is considered "aftermarket"

The tint would be on the inside of the glass, that is the layers of glass de laminating from the layer of plastic.

If you think the dealer many blame this on the tint, I would remove the tint before I took it in. The glass is worth more than the tint! Wouldn't tinting the windshield make it horrible at night? Just asking, because here in Nova Scotia, it's illegal to tint the driver and passenger side glass... The windshield would be out of the question for sure

Thats the windshield. The defect is all the way to the edge, which would be impossible to get to with tint unless they removed the windshield, cleaned it and applied tint into the seal area.
