That's the beauty of either of these methods...using the same guides you can swap the the other way too!

I'm a little confused by the new method.

I thought the shifter was supposed to be connected directly to the main dashboard harness, so without swapping out the dashboard harness where is he getting the wires and shifter connector from?

You mentioned the console harness, are you referring to the one that connects to the floor under the console? i didn't realize this harness contained the shifter connector as well???

I would rather have the factory wired colors to match rather than going and buying the pigtail and then having to match them by pin output to the column.

Maybe I'm missing something very obvious but anyways thanks in advance.

What he did was cut the connections at the column shifter off (his original main harness) & cut the connections at the console harness off (one that had the shifter connections) then figured out which wires needed to be mated together to get everything working.

I ordered a whole new console that comes with the shifter and the factory console harness so if it has what I need I'll use that if not I'll buy the pigtail and just make my own harness. Eventually I'll be replacing the entire dashboard anyways but I really want that console shifter until I have more time to do the swap, hell I might even change my mind and not swap dashboards.

As for the shift cable I have to complete swap it for the console version correct? Is it hard to get to the tranny side?

This is basically the exact same set up that DeeMiniioon started with.... he took the wires from his column & relocated them down to the new factory console harness (not a different harness, the one that is coming with your new console) & made all the connections there.. As for the shift cable, you are correct - it will need to be changed also because the two cables are different lengths. It isn't hard at all to get to the cable once you get under the truck

Have a complete center shift console gathering dust in my garage. Bought it as it came out of a special edition lariat and I wanted the red stitched leather for the gear shift and console lid. Put the ones that came off my truck on it so it's still a complete unit.

Free to anybody who wants to come to Charlotte, NC and take it.

I replaced it with the one from my Truck which has the grey stitching. Replaced the console lid and the shifter **** and boot with mine with the grey stitching.

I'll be out of town until the 27th but the deal holds if you want it.
