No, you don’t need the code to lock. Just hit 7+9.

I just push the bottom 2 buttons together with my thumb, which I guess is 7+9. From page 67 of the manual:

To Lock All Doors
Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 at the same
time with the driver door closed. You do
not need to enter the keypad code first.

On the Gen14's you can press the black rubber button on the door handle to lock the doors & fold-in mirrors. If'n the fob is in your pocket same button will unlock . A double press unlocks all doors.
