Just a heads up and sorry if someone has mentioned this already...there's a LOT of posts in this thread!
I don't leave mine in the truck and I'm not suggesting anyone do it but I'm curious how the insurance company would know. Wouldn't you just say someone stole your keys?

You have to file a police report. My guess is that the cops will ask about the keys. Lying would not only be a legal issue with the police but may also constitute insurance fraud. Not something that I would want to do.

Anyway - I digressed from F150's... sorry about that!
The good old days, good times. Time sure has changed. Some for the good, some for OMG some for the WTF.

The only time I do this is when I'm going hiking, fishing, swimming..... Sure beats loosing or scraping a couple of hundred $ fob. But if something was to happen, I would take full responsibility. Like Jim said, I dont wouldn't want to go down the insurance fraud road for a busted window and stolen stuff. Where I hide my fob would be close to impossible for a stranger to find.

How did they steal your keys without breaking into your home or mugging you? The police and insurance company are going to be very interested in the details. Your truck may also be recording whether you remove the fob or not. If you want the police to spend resources looking for your stolen truck, and the insurance company to reimburse you for its loss or damage, then you have a responsibility to do what you reasonably can to protect it.

That's much better than one of those magnetic key hiders that won't work with our trucks anyway.
