It just shows that FCA's Hellcat strategy simply works to sell but it's not gaining them a whole lot of respect with real enthusiasts.
My son was thinking about a Hellcat for his first new car in January. I talked him into a Low Mileage/all option 13 GT500 instead. Much more driveable than a Hellcat (besides the 6 speed). At the end of the day, a Hellcat is still a Dodge/Fiat. 8 months and 6,000 miles later he is still very happy with it. He may trade for the next gen GT500 if it comes out though.

Remember when they "leaked" the news they were going to build the hell cat challenger--it first hit the press as a concept car as well. Everyone said "they'll never build that " as well ---2 years later it was in production. I would not dismiss this as something that will never being built-- if they can make money building it they will.

I believe they will build it. They have to keep the competition guessing!

All 3 Ford dealers, I spoke with about it when I bought my new F150 a month ago, said Yes!

If this is going to production, we may finally see the 5.0 TT I've been waiting for!
This is true.
Rebel TRX (T-ReX) is going to be made and it WILL force Fords hand to come back out with a V8.
The TRX "concept" was built with production readiness in mind. There is already a truck that can be bought right now with full factory warranty that is very similar to the TRX called the Minotaur by Prefix. Its a beast with five engine options. Its the basis for the TRX.
NA 5.7L
NA 6.4L
SC 5.7L making 500HP ATW
SC 6.4L making 625HP ATW
They offer a NA 7.0L HEMI as well for people who want something realy different.

The Rebel TRX also has some of the next gen RAM 1500 styling queues and possibly some of the weight savings coming with the 5th gen.

However, even when Ford comes with a V8, a HP war between T-ReX and Raptor will be short lived due to drive train limitations. But if TRX is successful and the Baja racer niche grows more, then we will see some further refinement and exciting tech between the competitors.
Competition is good boys and girls.

That would be a smart move. But I doubt Ford would let that slip before the current Raptors sales take root. They should have had the 5.0 ready to offer right away as an engine option.

Didn't they already take a stab at the Raptor with the Ram Runner a few years ago?
Be careful now, RAM sales stil grow at a brisk pace even after 8 years of this body style. The 4rth gen RAM styling is one of the best ever made and The Rebel TRX has design queues from the next gen (5th gen) styling which will be evolutionary rather than evolutionary. Which is extremely smart on RAMs part.
