Default harsh downshift?

Anyone else with the 5.0,4x4. notice a noise when slowing for a stoplight and tranny downshifts to 3rd gear or when ,at a slow speed, truck upshifts to 4th gear? No occurrence if I use "tow" mode or "sport" mode. 4300 mi on truck. truck is 2015.

I get it in sport or normal mode too. 3.55 4x4.

It's a damn annoying clunk from 4th to 3rd or 5th to 4th. I only notice it when my AC is on.

I only feel a slight nudge into first when coming to a stop, which is normal. The 5-4 rough shift I had a few times when new (under 5k) is no longer there. The truck seems to do exactly what I want in regards to throttle position and shifting. Seems to know when I want to pass a zombie and is quick to downshift and scoot. Currently at 9k.

Only notice it when in Tow/Sport mode. No clunking though.

I notice a hard clunking down shift from 5th - 4th and 4th to 3rd when in normal driving mode on my 5.0 4x4. Also, sometimes the gear lights disappear from my dash. I haven't noticed in sport or tow mode yet, but it always happens when I'm slowing coming to a red light or something. Sometimes its so loud and hard it jolts the whole truck. I only have 4300 miles. I also notice the jolt when stopped and it skips from 3rd to 1st, it likes to jolt the truck forward and you really have to keep your foot hard on the brake.

Crystal, if you see this, is there anything FordService can do? I've contacted my dealer about this and all they said was 'bring it in at 5,000 miles and we'll look at it.."

rmp, just had mine in for that exact problem, got the normal "could not reproduce the problem", no codes, etc, but at least I'm now logged in the system as having issues with my transmission. Seems like it is getting better with more miles, but I still have the issue intermittently at 5500 miles.

I've noticed a rough shift when it goes 5th to 4th. Not sure under what-all conditions it occurs. I'll start paying attention.

If your dashboard gear indicator lights go out, just hit the + button on the side of the shifter, and it'll come back on.

Mine is when it down shifts to 4th gear only.

It clunks hard but is very infrequent. Will be hard to show the dealership.

I was towing my boat yesterday and it happened a couple of times. I was in tow haul and it I guess because I was towing some weight it was the hardest I have felt so far.

It didn't start showing up until I have put about 1,000 miles on it. I also think the clunk is slowly geting harder.

I have 4X4 3.5 echo with 3.55 rears. I was hoping a TSB will show up sometime soon.

I have the exact same problem on a 5.0 lariat. It's always when going from 5th to 4th, doesn't happen every time but quite often and jolts the truck. I took it in to the dealer and they said a tsb would fix it. I got truck back and it worked PERFECT for over 1,000 miles and now it started doing it again. It happens more frequently when pulling my boat, almost every time and am scared to slow up fast for a stop sign cause it clunks so bad. I contacted my service guy again and he asked if I could replicate it etc, and I'm like you guys just had it in the shop and fixed it - same thing going on and haven't heard back yet. So now I'm wondering if they really had a tsb out to fix it or they just unhooked the battery and reset things. Not sure but something needs to be done because it can't be good for the truck.

I also have noticed a hard downshift from 5th to 4th sometimes. Dealer said they could not get it to do it. I have one spot on my way home from work that is does it a lot of the time. Its a right hand curve going slightly uphill just when I start decelerating for a stop light. I also have a 3.5EB.
