harsh downshift?
I've had this hard downshift while slowing down as well. No idea what gearshift.
It's exacerbated in tow mode. It jeered my trailer hard while pulling a small utility trailer with a zero turn mower. Something in the software isn't right. Doesn't do it every time either, but enough to know it's not right. I have a 5.0 crew a. With 3.31s.

I do not have a hard downshift, however my truck will stay in fourth gear down to 20 mph. It gets to 800 rpm and you can hear it bogging down. It is bad enough that I have to drive in the congested areas in sport or tow haul.
The dealer told me that this is normal. Anyone else having this issue?

rmp, just had mine in for that exact problem, got the normal "could not reproduce the problem", no codes, etc, but at least I'm now logged in the system as having issues with my transmission. Seems like it is getting better with more miles, but I still have the issue intermittently at 5500 miles.
I have the exact same problem on a 5.0 lariat. It's always when going from 5th to 4th, doesn't happen every time but quite often and jolts the truck. I took it in to the dealer and they said a tsb would fix it. I got truck back and it worked PERFECT for over 1,000 miles and now it started doing it again. It happens more frequently when pulling my boat, almost every time and am scared to slow up fast for a stop sign cause it clunks so bad. I contacted my service guy again and he asked if I could replicate it etc, and I'm like you guys just had it in the shop and fixed it - same thing going on and haven't heard back yet. So now I'm wondering if they really had a tsb out to fix it or they just unhooked the battery and reset things. Not sure but something needs to be done because it can't be good for the truck.
I also have noticed a hard downshift from 5th to 4th sometimes. Dealer said they could not get it to do it. I have one spot on my way home from work that is does it a lot of the time. Its a right hand curve going slightly uphill just when I start decelerating for a stop light. I also have a 3.5EB.

My name is Chad, and I'm the new Ford Service Rep. If you're experiencing this concern, please shoot me a PM that confirms the year of your F-150, the current mileage, and whether or not it's been to the dealership yet; I'll explore options to assist.

Same problem here 3.5 EB with 3.55 rear axle. Hard shifts rarely happen but this truck grinds and vibrates in 4th gear. Has gotten better since new but still unacceptable to me. Dealer put 9 miles on my truck and said they couldn't reproduce problem. Just waiting on a tsb for now. 3000 miles.
Mine is on the console area, you can see the 6 gears on the dash panel and visually watching it go from 6 to 5 and as soon as it hits 4th it's a clunk. Automatic transmission.

I'm with you on there not being TSB yet, I bet they did just cut power for a reset.
Don't understand why it is so infrequent and random and that will make it harder to figure out. It does seem to be more often as the miles add up.
I will not be able to recreate at the dealer I'm sure so would rather wait for the TSB before I take mine in. Don't like wasting time having them look at me like I'm crazy and stuff and tell me they can not do anything about it if they can not see/feel it.

Same goes for my door knock and dash squeek. Which are both temperature and weather dependent. I'm positive I can stop the dash squeek. I just haven't had the time. I believe the door seals (rubber) is temp sensitive and contracts too much in cooler temps. Thus allowing the door to sound lose/knock/air escaping etc.
It might not sound, but I do love my truck.
While I normally feel what I think are hard down shifts, today there was a really hard one going from 5th to 4th shock the truck it was so bad. Felt like something locked up for a second. I tried to get it to do it again but couldn't as a mater of fact it was shifting very nice after this really hard one. Maybe it fixed itself?
