Default E-locker problem

Hey all...

My e-locker and auto-start quit working a while back. All other dash switches work. My truck is a 2015 2wd with a 2.7.

The problem started last winter when I got stuck and had to fight a while to get out. The e-locker was working then but as I was doing the typical back and forth, hit the brakes, switch gears happy fun time song and dance there was iirc warnings about abs (I think), and ebrake also. Nothing about the diff or locker. Anyway as previously mentioned since that day the locker doesn't do anything when I turn the switch and the autostart also quit working. I have checked every fuse in the truck twice. My next step was to replace the locker switch but I'm sure it'll be a waste of $50. I did notice the connectors for both the e-locker and autostart have at least three wires with the same color.

Any help would be appreciated!

On your dash information display, what is the message given for the "Auto-Startstop Status" when the system should have engaged "Auto-Stopstart" system? (ie. at a stop sign and the engine shuts down with brake applied)

Pull E-lock wire off rear end, connect 12v test light, flip switch off/on, if the light changes then the switch and wire are ok.

Check the truck DTC's, if something isn't working it usually has codes giving you an idea what to check. If you don't have a reader auto parts stores usually will do it for free. Write the codes down before they get erased.

I just get the autostart symbol that's crossed out. I can turn it on and off and the display acknowledges it but it never works. The locker on the other doesn't acknowledge that I'm turning the switch at all.

That's a good idea. Though no icon shows on the dash when I turn the switch so I assume no signal is getting to the rear.

I get a code but it's pretty vague. I get a U0102 code which is apparently "Lost Communication with Transfer Case Control Module"

So you have 4 wheel drive? Thought you said above it was 2wd. Turning the switch you have a 4 wheel drive, pulling on the switch you have a e-lock axle. You could have both. With that error code I would be crawling under the truck checking the plug hasn't pulled off the transfer case. Or something has gone wrong with the transfer case module since its not talking to the rest of the truck. The auto start-stop I'm guessing is a different issue I would think. Check the instrument cluster for the reason.

It is 2wd. From what I understand it's a pretty generic code.

If I am following this thread correctly -the dial on the dash is rotary to enable/disable e-lock on a 2wd. That would verify OP turning a switch to e-lock. The dial is in the same location as the 4x4 truck, just a different selector switch for on/off only.
There is another thread that was posted today or yesterday with a "what does this do".... it is a 2wd e-lock dial. The same e-lock appears on both options.

The "U" code is in fact a communication error.

Have the battery cables been removed recently? That could cause an issue and can create a communication error.
If no, maybe the cables should be disconnected and cleaned then reconnected.

Or you have a battery failing. Auto start/stop typically quits when the battery is low. The error on the dash would be key, if one is present stating why it is being disabled for that moment.
I have a 16 Lariat 4x4. The e-lock icon is just above the letter representing direction of travel (compass letter) in the lower right of the cluster.
I sat in the truck, ignition on, engine off. The light comes on right away and there is a definitive sound at the rear diff when it locks. If yours is silent I would expect that to be enough confirmation that it is in fact non-functional. Just as further confirmation I guess.
