I would suggest you do not have any files on your USB drive other than what's necessary for the software update. You wouldn't want to damage your head unit by not following the instructions.

What's funny is when I upgraded to V2.2 owner.ford acts like they did it.

About to update my non-nav sync 3 to 2.2. Just wanting to confirm one thing before I start. With the non-nav update, there are two files to upload. Do you turn the truck off after updating with the first one, and then back on when you when you have the 2nd file on your USB, or do you keep it running the entire time through the whole update process?

We jumped ahead in line.
Thanks!
Finally got to install it this afternoon ('16, coming from 1.0, w/ NAV). Took somewhere around 20 minutes for the first step. Shut off the car, opened the door, started things back up. Everything was good except for the nav - it kept that spinning "loading" message up the entire ride. Once I recycled the system, nav then loaded just fine!
One good change that I'm already liking is the display of the XM channel number and name across the top bar. With 98.56% confidence I want to say that previously it only displayed "XM Preset 1" or something like that.
Now if the new hub would only come off of backorder so I can play with CarPlay!
BTW, since folks have been asking for other mirrors and apparently didn't see my earlier posts, here they are:
