I have to disagree with this. Even with their flaws, which are plentiful, CarPlay/AA, (I'm a longtime Apple guy,25+ years, but also in IT, so I have Android devices in the house as well. Sync 3 is good, much better than Sync 1 in my 2013 F150, or Entune in my wife's Highlander; but there's really no comparison between Sync3 and CarPlay/AA, in terms of UI/familiarity. Sync3, as good (comparatively) as it is, still feels like a car system, whereas CP/AA feels like an extension of your device.

I guess it depends on the demographic. Both my dad & my father in law have relatively new trucks, with BT/USB interface for their phones, and stick to FM/XM, out of familiarity & comfort. Both use BT headsets, and are familiar/comfortable with using streaming audio on their phones, just not in their vehicles. Both have seen Sync 3 in my truck, and are still intimidated by it, it's still a computer to them. I've shown them CP/AA, by plugging their phones in, and both were instantly intrigued, it felt natural to them, they knew the voice commands, they understood what was showing up on screen.

Just figured you did, you are soliciting beta testers to test an upgrade. If you don't work for Ford and are distributing unreleased Ford software, isn't that, well you know..

Thought this forum didn't encourage or aide in theft of software and intellectual property.

The software was obtained via legitimate means. If you would like to give Ford some money I can tell you how you can do it too. Its called paid access.

You guys need to be patient and just wait for the official software update from Ford. There's no need in begging someone in this or any other thread for any special favors. Save your pride and wait. It shouldn't be too much longer.

One nice thing about V2.2 that I noticed is that I had to re-pair my phone...why is that nice...well SYNC's BT is now called "Ford Edge" instead of "SYNC". So those with multiple Ford vehicles should be able to tell the difference now on their phone with matched BT devices.

2.0 does this as well, only 1.0 and 1.1 said SYNC. Pending the vehicle name plate hex code is present in the APIM as built... all 2.0+ should say the vehicle name for Bluetooth pairing.

So how does the update work? Download the update to USB via laptop/PC then plug USB into vehicle and let it go?

That's one way. The other will to allow the unit to connect to WiFi and it will download from the internet. Likewise if you have Sync joined to WiFi network it will check and alert you when an update is available.
