Hi,
So where on owner.ford.com is everyone finding the 2.3 update? According to my account, the v2.2 software I installed manually last July is "up to date". If Ford is selling trucks with v2.3 in them, then why haven't they released it for everyone with the same hardware?
The same thing happened with v2.2. My v1.0 Sync was over a year old before they officially "gave me permission" to install v2.2. I really don't think that Ford and their developers are truly on the ball with this....

My problem is with the sync update. So when i picked up the truck it has Version 1.1. So being quite tech savy, I went to owners ford website, got the 2.3 update and followed the steps to the letter.
So here is where the issues began. When the update completed, everything was awesome and worked great. I have an LG G6 with Android Auto. I used android auto driving home, played music, did OK google.. worked 100%
I noticed that on the about page in Sync, it still said version 1.1. That didn't sit well with me, so I did the update again that night. Well it failed(space error). Did a master reset and I performed the update again and it completed succesfully and it now says version 2.3 BUT....
NO more android auto.. GONE.. no android auto preferences button.. nothing.. everything else works great, all other features.... So here is what I have done so far...
1. Rebooted my phone twice.
2. Uninstalled Android Auto app (and its settings) from my phone
3. Master Reset Sync3 (2-3 Times)
4. Uploaded the file from the USB key back to Owners ford to say the update was completed..
5. Tried multiple USB Cables (aftermarket and OEM)
I am stumped , what are my next steps.. I would really like Android Auto back... I figured I would reach out to you fine folks to see is it worth a visit to the dealer ?? Can I downgrade the software..
Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Guys, I had the exact issue... I did not properly document the procedure, but I did do a helluva lotta Googling to get it fixed, not to mention bothering the crap outta some of the members here.
So I disconnected and removed all of the phones I previously had connected. I also removed the truck from the phones, FWIW.
I did a master reset and re-added an iPhone successfully, but Android Auto would still not appear.
Removed everything again, including the truck from the phones.
I downloaded the Sync update from the Ford site (to USB) and performed the update. I let it finish and waited until the next day to even consider an attempt. HERE"S WHERE I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT WORKED
I think... I think, the issue was resolved at that point. I say this because I then applied the v3 update via USB. It all works just fine now... I just can't be sure whether it was the official update or the v3 beta that did it.
Good luck and godspeed.

I knew you'd ask... I can't remember that either. But I found this:

It looks a LOT like what I did!
Read around, though... there are a LOT of threads about issues with this Unofficial version.

both are formatted ExFat.
I never tried a hub but I see no reason not to give it a go. Just remmeber, not all hubs or external drive cases are the same. One might work fine and the next might not even be seen by sync.
Just an update to anyone who had followed my issues previously...
It is all fixed now! I ended up replacing my APIM, and now everything is running smoothly. Nav works all the time, maps even appear to be moving more smoothly, all response times are vastly improved. Just for those who had not read my previous posts, I was having sporadic issues, sometimes everything worked fine, and then the next time I would get it, the Nav wouldn't work, I couldn't listen to Bluetooth from my phone, and I could not plug my phone in USB and listen to it... a phone call would always come through though. Still not sure how it could be a random event and work sometimes and not others, but replacing the APIM corrected everything, and as I said, everything seems smoother operationally now.
The cost sucked, but compared to the price of the truck, to finally have it working properly again it was worth it for me!
Thanks, to everyone who helped and/or offered advise and things to try, this was definitely my last resort - so hopefully some of the other cheaper things I tried will help everyone else!
