Default Changed battery

2016 Lariat 3.5 EcoBoost 4x4 3/16 build -changed original battery with Duracell group 94 800 CCA AGM. After replacing battery locked truck and left for 12 hours sleep since do not have forscan available to reset BCM.After starting truck the following day all seem good except remote start will not work. All other Fob functions work. Check settings in cluster and all appears correct. Open to any suggestions

from manual:
After battery replacement, or in some
cases after charging the battery with an
external charger, the battery management
system requires eight hours of vehicle sleep
time to relearn the battery state of charge.
During this time your vehicle must remain
fully locked with the ignition switched off.
Note: Prior to relearning the battery state
of charge, the battery management system
may temporarily disable some electrical
systems.

Good to know. Maybe it needs more time to learn.

You need to do (2) things. Change battery type in Forscan from SLI to AGM. The system will use a charge profile setup for a wet cell battery that will not provide full potential for an AGM. Secondly, you need to perform a BMS reset. Battery SOC relearn is not the same as BMS reset. I think a handful of us say this daily on this board. You need to reset the BMS because it still believes there is an aged battery and will further degrade the brand new one. Either use Forscan, take it to dealer, or find somebody who has IDS, cal tools or other to reset.

Spend the $30 for an adapter to use forscan. It will be handy to have in the future

First thank you for your suggestions. Since the truck originally had a AGM battery I don’t think I would need to make the change you suggested unless it changes automatically. I will take to dealer and have the reset done to the BMS . I guess I need to go ahead and buy the cable and get Forscan set up on my laptop. Thank you again!

I believe the AGM battery was only available in the 2.7 ecoboost in 2016. It goes along with the Auto Start Stop feature. It wasn't available in the 3.5 until 2017. Did you buy your truck new? I find it hard to believe that changing the battery would affect the remote start.

Bought it used with 20k on it. It had a AGM battery in it and was branded as FOMOCO.

My truck has the factory battery in it yet (and is still working well). It is a Motorcraft BXT-94RH7-730. This is a conventional SLI flooded lead acid battery.
