Oh Yes. I typically get approximately 7 years out of a flooded lead acid battery here and I have an older USA made Optima Red Top that is 8 years old in my Mustang. I just had to install the third (including the OE) battery in my wife's 2005 SUV. Heat around here is not an issue.

It may have had a FOMOCO battery in it, but wasn't original. Were you able to get the remote start working?

Here's some conditions that it won't work in:

The remote start system does not work if:
• The ignition is on.
• The alarm system triggers.
• You disable the feature.
• The hood is open.
• The transmission is not in P.
• The vehicle battery voltage is too low.
• The service engine soon light is on.

That's not always true. I have over 3 1/2 years on my present truck and my previous truck, 1995 F150 had over 8 years on the original battery. I changed it only because it was so old, never had an issue with it and I live in South Florida

It was an original Motorcraft, but this was 25 years ago. I'm watching the one in this new truck to see how long it goes.

I’m taking it into dealer to have BMS reset, all your suggested Items have been checked, or not applicable as no CEL,battery voltage is great, trans. Is in park, alarm not activated, hood closed. I’m currently in S. FLL working and have a appointment next week to get it reset/ checked when I return.

As previously stated and in many other posts, disconnecting the battery for a period of time, or allowing the vehicle to "sleep" for 8 h is not the same as a BMS reset.

I understand that, his issue is the remote not remotely starting the car as I understood it. What harm to try?
