Default Catch can issues

I put a RXP Catch can in my 15 3.5 eco last year. It seems to be working great as far as removing all that nasty crap from my motor. Twice now I have had a code on my truck for the pcv system and I can see some oil on my air filter coming from the fresh side line. I guess that's why I got the code. Has anyone else seen these issues and what did you do to solve the problem. Thanks

1+ for remove. Unless you live in the south. I live in MT. First cold morning of November I started the truck. The motor began to shake violently and the check engine light came on. I had over 8 codes. Upon inspection of the catch can, the lines were all clogged with frozen water. The cans did collect gunk in the summer and fall. After thawing everything, I had the same problem a few days later. Yanked it out!

So catch-cans don't work in the colder climates?

I always wondered if that gunk froze.

I Don't really want to do that. I've don't think I've had an issue with it freezing just the 2 times it threw the code. I erased them and all's good. It collects allot of crap in winter not allot in the summer.

Superfluous. These engines are designed to deal with the "gunk".

that's a great example for how installing a catch-can will / might void your warranty for engine related issues down the road...

oil coming on the air filter from a line not supposed to be there and the truck throwing error codes indicates that this is far more likely to damage the vehicle down the road than the engine ingesting a shot glass of mainly water based "crud" every hundred miles....

If your truck needed a catch can then the Ford Engineers that designed it would have included it. Additionally, installing a catch can can be reason to deny certain warranty claims.

yup. why anyone would install a catch can on a NEW truck with a 60k powertrain warranty is beyond me. ESPECIALLY the folks who trade in / sell before hitting the 5yr mark.... ALL you gain is potentially voiding warranty which fully covers you during ownership PLUS you pay a few hundred $ for that privilege...

might be a lot smarter to spend catch-can money into an extended powertrain warranty if they are that worried....
