Default The case for rustproofing

Maybe no so much for our aluminum trucks. But, I saw this truck when I went for a hike a couple of weeks ago.

If it wasn't for the rockers, I'd confuse that with your normal Florida pool guy pickup. There's a reason I dont drive anywhere near those pool maintenance trucks.

Based on the amount of rust on that baby, I'd hazard a guess that isn't a Florida truck....but I know what you mean by the pool maintenance guys.

I should mention, this is near Toronto, Canada. They put that salt brine stuff on our roads in the winter and it eats vehicles alive.

That right there is the main reason I didn't go with a 2018 Ram even though you get more for your money than with a F-150. This was before the 2019 Rams were out.

That would fold like an accordion in an accident. I used to live in the rust belt and I had a Dodge Ram that looked similar, mostly the doors were rusted.

I see more cancerous dodge rams around here than any other make of pickup of the last 20 years. The odd Ford or GM but I suspect they had a harsh life with minimal care.

I didn't put the expensive dealer rust proofing on my truck when I bought it. I did some rust proofing spray can work in the driveway just to keep the frame looking a bit nicer longer.
I always try to wash the truck regularly during salt season including hosing the undercarriage as best I can. At best it slows the corrosion but ultimately a losing battle.

I think that by the time the frame has serious rust the truck is done regardless.
