I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they gave me a loaner. They hope to have an answer by Thursday. As soon as they do I will call Ford and see if we can get a crate motor put in. All is well for now, except my truck, but everything seems to be looking good.

Has anyone else had Ford install a crate engine in their truck with success?
Has one put in my 14 GT500 at 54K under powertrain warranty, no problems after that what so ever. It really depends on the mechanic as to how good it goes for the most part.

Default Update

Went to the dealer today and they are ordering a short block for my truck. I asked what caused the need for that and was told it's due to another malfunction with the timing sprocket. I expressed my concern worth it being another partial repair and was told to call Ford. I've opened up a case number and I'm waiting to hear back.

In the mean time I have a 2018 lariat 5.0 which is super nice but that 10spd transmission is rough . Feels like it's always trying to find what gear it needs to be in.

They ought to put in a long block and extend your bumper to bumper. Push for this.

To each their own, I love the 10 speed in my 2.7

Just a "call Ford" not a "we agree with you, but Ford only approved this, we'd be happy to back you on your request for a long block"?

Default Finally fixed

Just got my truck back today. They were able to get me a long block and Ford gave me an ESP. All is well.

Super glad you were taken care of. I have a feeling the way you've handled the situation helped your cause.

Glad it is working out!
I lucked out when my engine dropped a valve in the #7 cylinder, the dealer got the approval from Ford the same day that they requested it and had the new engine the day after. I got my truck back a week after they got the new engine, I would have gotten it back sooner but they were having problems with the machine used to recharge the A/C.
