Pretty sure all Ford dealership report to Carfax. You would know if it's a problematic vehicle or a Lemon. You even have the option of calling any Ford dealership and asking what the history is.

If it happens anywhere it happens on vacation right? Couple years back my wife and I were headed down to Pigeon Forge for a long weekend trip in my old Camry and the engine blew up. 5 hours from home, an hour from Pigeon Forge, in the middle of nowhere on the highway. Was fortunate enough to get a tow from a really nice guy (who owned the tow company) who ended up taking us to our hotel, but man that whole experience sucked.

I can imagine. I got got lucky it happened right after work. I had plans to visit some family in Iowa. That would have been a nigtmare, especially with 3 kids in the truck .

So I went to the dealer and the service advisor doesn't know what is wrong with my truck. I scoped out the shop and my truck wasn't in there. It looks like they gave me the loaner because I sent an email stating that it had been 4 days and I couldn't get a hold of anyone to find out the status of my truck. She did say that it was an issue with the motor and it had to get processed through Ford. In the mean time they have me a 2018 screw STX. Said it would be 4 days before they could get it fixed .

I put around 95,000 miles on my 14 that I bought in July of 14 and then traded in Nov of 17 for a new 17 5.0. I tuned it and ran the crap out of it, did regular maintenance and a lot of mods. The engine started having problems and the oa from blackstone came back with a lot of metal in it. The lights on the steering wheel buttons went out and the rear defrost wouldn't work. I had to rebuild the tranny, my fault I tuned it. So I traded it in and they had that thing sold in less than two weeks. I feel sorry for the poor smuck who bought it, that's why I never buy used trucks. So yeah, I was ready for another truck.

Default Update!!!

So after going to the dealer today I finally got some answers. The crank sprocket broke causing the timing to go off. They have ordered the part. Since this is my first 2.7, are these motors interference engines?

I don't believe any new car uses a non-interference motor.

I always wondered why people were switching them out for the billet ones. Does anyone know what conditions may cause them to fail or fail quicker. In other words is it ecoboost engines vs the 5.0 or is it the 2.7 vs the 3.5 or tuned vs not tuned? I'm just curious, not trying to hijack your thread.
