Bluetooth issues
So not sure how to explain this buy in my 16 Platinum the Bluetooth starts to disconnect randomly from the phone, after a few seconds it will reconnect without dropping the call. Has anyone experienced this. It has only started happening in the last few weeks but has become a real pain. I use an iPhone and no matter which one connects is does the same thing, so I think the phone can be ruled out. Has there been a recent update perhaps that may not have fully downloaded? Grasping at straws here so any help of idea would be appreciated!
Thanks

Yep, that's how it starts. Has the interface seemed slower/more laggy of late? Watch the nav screen - do you see the GPS unlock (GPS with a circle/slash through it on the left side) from time to time?
If so, your APIM is dying. I had it happen on my 2016, and the first symptom was random BT disconnects. It will get worse over time.

I have been experiencing the same thing! IPhone XS user on the latest iOS updates. I would say I started noticing the Bluetooth disconnecting and reconnecting randomly about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Happens when on a call or when streaming audio. I’ve been noticing more and more lately the “no GPS” icon more and more lately. Today the gps stayed on a blank screen for about 10 miles of driving before updating. I was on Sync version 2.2. I decided to go ahead and do the Sync 3.0 update to see if that helps. Will report back after a few days.
Nope, it's not iOS related. You both have dying APIMs. The APIM is the "brain" of the infotainment system and no, it's not cheap.
You can update and reset to your heart's content. *Everyone* who has posted with these escalating combination of symptoms has eventually reported a failed APIM.
By the way, when you ultimately take it in and get it fixed, the first thing Ford will do is a master reset and firmware update. This won't even touch the problem, but they'll say that's what Ford told them to do and give the truck back to you. Test it out in the service drive, so you can tell the service mangler that "no, it's really still broken, try again" and leave it there. Ask me how I know.

the cost is astronomical if you are outside of warranty...the part alone is anywhere from 500-800 dollars and that doesn't cover R&R or diag...the APIM is buried behind the center screen

I've been having random bluetooth disconnects, but in my case it is definitely the phone (Samsung Galaxy s6 active). Bluetooth drop out in the truck, but I also have the issue with just about any other bluetooth device - headphones, etc...).
Check and see if you are having issues with any other bluetooth connectivity before going for the APIM. (That's what I feared at first too). Unfortunately, looks like the OP has tried other phones and gets the same result though...

So things have escalated since I started this thread...I now need a new APIM...GPS dead, screen very slow in responding, bluetooth non existent...Has anyone had any goodwill assistance from ford with this? I have 40K in miles on the truck and now I am screwed....this is a piece of **** and at this point should not have gone bad....any advice?
