Auto tailgate button and heated wheel button
I also have this switch for the cab, it work just like the switch that is on the tailgate of the Lariat an above with the automatic drop tailgate that you can drop with your fob on Lariat and above . Note guys the actuator is different on an XLT tailgate compared to the actuator on lariat and above tailgate this only works with. Sorry XL and XLT unless you have modified. No BCM code changes are needed for Lariat and above , just wire into tailgate release circuit on one and take to ground on the other. It just a momentary switch just like the tailgate button on the tailgate. What it does is take the BCM to ground on the button. Then the BCM will release the tailgate on the tailgate release actuator circuit.
I havent gotten that far yet. That is a later problem. At this point I dont even think pin 14 is the correct location since it is already in use on the F150. Pin 1 at connector C2208E seems more likely (lift gate open switch), but I havent looked at (or found) any 2017 Super Duty wiring diagrams yet for comparison.

You have an XL correct. Yours is a manual release on the tail gate. XL and XLT’s don’t have the same tailgate release mechanism in the tailgate. You would have to get and install the one that came in the lariat and above part number GC3Z-9943170-A the electrical connector is different on this part and run about 4 to 5 different long wires from the BCM to try to get it to work (if it will work). Reason is that auto tailgate release is part of the passive/ push button start system. Lariat and above owners and also only one XLT out there that has the passive/ push button start system, know this because they have a tailgate release button on the key fob and the tailgate handle is different to to work with that release switch in the tailgate also that will take the other wires.

I have change the wiring harness with lariat ,F L F harness , tail light harness and tailgate harness and push power tailgate handle..the wires i dot have is the ones that goes to the bcm ..i added i switch to the dash i can open but cant open from the tailgate ..
This guy on the raptor forum made his #6 upfitter switch open the tail gate. This leads me to believe that a 250 dash mounted switch could possibly do the same.

He says: This kit works by using the empty pin in the body control module harness that is set aside for a trunk release button in the Ford sedans. Ford vehicles share the same parts in most electrical instances, in the F150s case, this pin was left empty because we don't have trunks, but a tailgate. Once tapping into this pin on the body control module, we have the exact same concept of operation as the Ford sedans and their interior trunk release system use. my kit is designed to use your factory upfitter switch in lieu of the truck release button!
There is two panels to be removed for installation. The passenger side "ford performance" plate and the adjacent panel. Both "pop" off.
Zero soldering is required. Zero factory wires need to be cut. Everything you need is included including zipties and shrink-wrap tubing.
