Once in a while let the Auto Start Stop do its work. The transmission (at least my 6 speed does) have a little transmission fluid Auxiliary pump that needs to work once in a while or it may be damaged by lack of use. I've heard of some of these pumps go bad for lack of use and will throw a code. To get rid of the code you need to replace the little pump ($$$).

I do have the Autostop eliminator and love it.

Just pop it out if you want to use your port!

I got one used from a member on here. Plugged it in and it never worked. It was also making my hazard lights flash randomly. No idea. Took it back out and now I just press the damn button.

I recently bought a used 2018 F150....one previous owner, off lease.

I'm not complaining, but the auto stop/start does not work. When I stop at a light, the symbol with the line through it shows up on the dash.

I suppose it's possible that the previous owner installed an over-ride, any idea where to start to look for something?

Thanks,

-Erik

Prior to the plug in devices it was popular to jump the switch. It’s what I did on my ‘20 since it was easy and free. (But mine doesn’t show the AS/S icon in the cluster…) you’d have to pull the trim around the radio screen off to look at the switch/harness from the back.
Aside from that, a few other things can affect it. HVAC, steering wheel angle, battery charge, towing status etc. also if you unplug a trailer light harness down in driver’s side kick panel or the BMS harness off battery negative terminal.

I went with the harness style. More install effort but seems like it might be a more solid solution.

That's what I did. Good solution and keeps the OBD port available. So far the Autostop Eliminator has worked like a charm.

Odds are the previous owner didn't do anything to it. Your battery probably has to low of a charge to let the Auto Stop/Start function.
