My 2019 XLT I just bought does the same thing. Should I be able to throw a battery charger on it to fix this if that is the reason why the AS/S isn't working?

I'm not complaining, but the auto stop/start does not work. When I stop at a light, the symbol with the line through it shows up on the dash.

I suppose it's possible that the previous owner installed an over-ride, any idea where to start to look for something?

Thanks,

There's a display option that shows the status of AS/S in the instrument cluster. It should tell you why it's inactive when you come to a stop. Mine was something like "battery charging" for the longest time, since buying it (used). The dealer put a new battery in it, free, when I first addressed it, and that resolved it. But, not one year later, the alternator died, so it was a larger problem than I thought.

I gave a temporary solution to the issue.
Others disconnect plugs, jumper contacts, take the feature out in software, etc. Ask them your question.
Ask why others do what they do to their trucks and get all the answers you want to hear.
You object to a simple plug in the rear trailer connector that does not alter anything and removed at will.
You lose the same screen info and alarm with a Trailor plug connected to either 4 pin or 7 pin sockets.
Think what you want about this as I have no responsibility to reply with an answer of what I have already explained that you know you will not except.
Therefore, nothing changes.
Your "solution" is nonsensical. Disabling thousands(?) of dollars worth of features on a fifty thousand dollar truck just to save seventy three dollars is penny wise pound foolish. It's like saying "hey I have a broken arm, I'll just cut my arm off so then I won't have a broken arm anymore". Your "solution" is worse than the "problem".

Guys, these trucks are $30-90k. Quit being so absurd and buy the damn $73 dongle.

Why they want to do it isn't your business. Move on to another thread.

I installed the one that connects the button to the harness. Took about 5 minutes and has worked perfectly since.

I have something else (a Garmin dongle) plugged into my OBD port all the time.

You forgot to mention that they will spend thousands of dollars on other useless junk.
