Auto StartStop error
It's a shame there isn't more data on other people's fixes wheni it does hwppen but cold temp seems to be a player as does 2018 model. So far if I'm reading this right all the issues are on 2018 model trucks. Which is leading me to think it has some cause attached to the 10sp trans. As 2 things were new for 2018 - everyone got start stop not just the ecoboost and everyone got the 10sp. I see a few cases of full reflashed PCM - and no reports back so perhaps that is the grand fix.
complete wipe and reprogram of the computer - which would explain alot.
Good Luck.

Hope it’s just a one-off.
This happened to me today. I was coming off the highway, rolled through one light as it was changing to green. Coming up on the second light that was red and just before I was at a complete stop it just died and showed the same warning others posted. I was stopped by the time I realized what was happening and read the warning, restarted no problem. I changed the display over to where it shows the *** status and drove for about another hour (*** worked fine) before the status changed to unavailable. I found a good time to turn the truck off for a minute and restarted and the system started working again like normal. No repeat issues.
71k miles, first time it's happened. After reading this, I think I'm going to remove the cable and clean the connection. I work in agriculture, mainly as a mechanic, and you'd be surprised how often this fixes electrical problems.

I will try to explain one reason auto start may fail.
Conditions; truck sets in very cold temps for more than one day.
Cranking drains power from the AGM battery.
Battery is also cold at the prevealing outside temperature.
The battery will only accepts a lower charge voltage rate, by design because the negitive cable has the Sensor that detects the conditons and inhibits auto start and results in the dash screen you see..
You don't drive far enough or long enough for the engine bay to heat the battery and except a higher charge rate for a faster recovery time..
Drive, shut motor off, crank again, the battery has even less charge left for auto starting.
You have an auto start faulure.
Why?
The motor needs an electric fuel pump for fuel, the transmission needs it's electric fluid pump located on the outside of the transmission so the tansmission will propel the vehichle in gear when the motor starts again.
If the battery voltage is too low to complete auto start functions, you will have a failure.
If the battery is aged and does not recover charge fast enough due to age and or temperature, you will have auto start failure.
I cannot explain it any simpler.
You need to know what's involved and not just complain when there is a cause present or you have a battery that is too cold for auto start conditiins, at times or there is to many stop starts before the battery recovers charge.
The system may still be able to start the motor but not in auto start mode for the above reasons.

Was going out for some errands with the Missus. Truck had sat in the garage, cold week here in MD. Cold start, but let it warm up in the driveway for a few minutes. Turned *** off. Moved out our driveway and was accelerating when my wife told me to stop so she could return some erroneously delivered mail to the neighbor. Jammed on brakes - truck completely quit and I got the OP’s red battery *** error message. Put the car in park. Pulled the key. Reinserted the key and restarted. Fortunately not in any traffic.
No problems since that day…gonna ask my dealer service about it on Monday. Have had *** kick in way too many times when pulling to a stop at a parking lot exit and it activates before I can accelerate - or just as I am ready to accelerate - to pull into major cross traffic; so I disable it every time I drive. *** is one scary, badly designed, POS that should never have been incorporated into the F-150; biggest gripe/hate by far that I have with my F-150.
