Default Auto StartStop error

I have a 2018 F150 XL 2.7l 4x4 with about 2400 miles. Today, I was driving and lost all engine power. An error message popped up on the instru

ment cluster saying "Auto StartStop Shift to P then restart". The truck was cold and had been sitting for 2 days. It's been about 20 degrees during the day and 0 at night. I had started the truck, let it warm for a minute then drove a mile and parked. Fifteen minutes later I started it and pulled out of a parking spot, slowed at the end of the lot and was pulling onto the road when it died and I got that message. I took a picture then put it in park and it restarted fine. I drove the mile home with no issue.

I have not gone to the dealer yet as I suspect they will just tell me to wait until it happens again. Any thoughts on what the problem may be?

This happened to me while I was turning off a main road. Luckily it was very early in the morning and I was able to roll far enough to park and restart. I didn't have time to take a pic and Im glad you did because I had no clue what happened. Hoping someone can shine some light on this. I have a 2018 5.0 as well.

I've seen this on 17 Escape when stopped and remove foot to go and that popped up. I heard it could be many things but most likely low battery, if you were moving that would be of a bigger concern. I was just stopped and took foot off pedal and it didnt restart.

Yeah I never came to a complete stop. I was slowing down but was still moving and when I started to turn it shut off and gave me the same error on the screen.

Same thing happened to me. I only wish I had taken a picture as there is always a lot of skepticism. Dealer kept it for three days and could not replicate, of course. Tech said he would have had to plug into the system before a restart to get any useful data.

As I see this as a safety issue, I did this and recommend anyone else it happens to do the same: File a Vehicle Safety Complaint Safercar National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) . Only takes a few minutes. Taking it to the dealer, especially with the picture, is important as well to put Ford on notice of the problem.

(I wonder if Forscanning the AS/S away or installing the AutotStop Eliminator device will "fix" the problem?)

If the little red graphic is a battery this has to have something to do with the problem.

You'd think with that picture a Ford engineer could determine what conditions cause it to trigger... with it dying on the road like that they need to figure out wtf is going on...

Would the little red graphic battery light be there if the truck is on but the engine is off? I've tried to explain what happened to mine before but wasn't able to take a pic. Everyone told me it was probably the engine stalling.
