Default Auto Shut down

Anyone know if this can be disabled? During hot summer months (which is 7 or 8 months down here) I depend on my vehicle to keep my working dog cool, it could be for an hour or two. Think K-9 vehicle when the officer is out of vehicle but his partner needs to be kept fresh and cool. Those vehicles and my last one just kept running.

There's a button on the top console to disable it.

It doesn't last long. If you sit at idle for a long time, the engine will kick back on.

Are you referring to the auto on/off function of the 2.7 Eco?
It will stay on as needed for cooling/heating.

It doesn't last long, meaning the truck shuts off again unless you keep disabling it?

if you are running you heat it will stay on. I was told if you have it on AC it will also stay on because the system demands the engine runs to operate. its cold here so I havnt tested that on mine yet. I have also noticed when its really really cold the engine wont even shut off due to the temps outside. im just making it a habit to turn it off when I start the vehicle. im hope someday they can disable it via the computer system.

No not the 2.7 auto on/off. The 3.5 automatically shuts off after like 10 minutes. It also does this with the remote start, if you start the vehicle but don't put it in gear or touch the brake, the truck shuts off after a given period of time. You can adjust the time out to 15 minutes I think but that is it. I don't want the feature, I think it's dangerous. People are gonna leave dogs in a cool running car, lock it do some errands and come back to a big problem.

Well, that would be great I'll test that. Maybe the times it shut off with me I had neither Heat not AC running or it shut off and I didn't hear the AC while it was running.

Thanks

you might have to hit the AC button in order for this to work. I don't think having is crankced all the way on the cold side will do. what I was told at the dealer, and the way I read it in the manual, if the system requires the motor to be on to operate then it stays on. or if it off long enough when its cold or hot it will turn back on.

I thought it only did the shut off if you started it with the remote start. If you start it normally I didn't think there was a time limit??

You have me curious now for the only times I have left it running were when I had driven then stopped.

Can you not just crank it and hit the break or something to keep it running??

It's shutting down after a button start, when left idling for a set amount of time in the 10 to 15 minute range. It gives you a warning that in 30 seconds it is going to do so. At that point if you touch the brake, if I recall, the engine shut off timer resets itself probably for another 10 or 15 minutes.
