the system in my 17 year old toyota worked much better. annoying. ive never had the lights cut off though...only on when they don't need to.
When the sun is behind the truck you look like a dark shadow to oncoming vehicles. One reason why there are more accidents at sunset or sunrise. The lights turn on to make you more visible to other drivers.

The FORScan mod seems to be working. It's a 15 second delay on mine and also did my neighbors "17 with the same delay time. It is nice driving late afternoon with the low sun angle and going thru a row shadows on the streets and head on drivers not thinking that I'm flashing my lights that MR. LEO is running radar.

Never paid attention to this before, my DRL's (headlights) are on anyways, always have the headlight switch in auto.

After 5 test trucks, the values in post #9 definitely added 13 sec.to the factory delay setting of 2 sec.for a 15 sec. total delay. This has helped those not using headlights as DRLs (using parking, turns etc) with the late afternoon, low sun angle shadows from keeping your DRLs switching on/off with headlights as well as dash lights going in/out night mode as driving thru the shadows.

Awesome. Thanks for testing. What about starting the truck when it is already night? Is there a delay before the lights kick in?

Did you send a message to Livnitup in the Forscan forum so he could make a note on the spreadsheet? This is how a lot of the stuff there was found.

Not yet- want to try different years, turns out they are all '16s but in 2 cities, KCMO and STL. lol. I wouldn't think there would be any difference in 15-17MYs but... 5 trucks in 1 MY is a small test sample.

Yeah, 15-17 are pretty much the same. I can try it in my 15, how did you test it so I do it the same way?
EDIT:
Well, I just pulled up AsBuilt Hacker and looked, my truck is already a 0, so I already have it set, no wonder I never noticed this before. Mine was set from the factory. I just added a bunch of serial numbers and will have to do some comparing, seems some trucks are 0 already, some are 1.

2nd edit, after glancing through a bunch of trucks and I mean a bunch, from a 2014 build dates through 2017, its either 0 or 1, I can't see a reason for it. Doesn't seem to make a difference on models. I have a few 18's in my list, will have to look later on.

Great-We been driving for about a week and not getting the shadows triggering the rapid on/off of night mode unless you sit in one for more than 15 sec.. The quickest test was driving in garage with the sun out and soon as my truck would hit the shadow in the garage the lights would come on within 2 sec. and now it's 15 sec. Now I can park the truck without the lights coming on. I also used a Lux meter at various locations.
