Here's the part that's weird, for a 2018 the CCM that has "CADS" in the description is almost 1/2 the price as the other CCM. I would think it would be the other way around if the one for stop & go was in fact the CADS one:

I saw that to the part was lower priced on that CADS module. From the wiring diagram it even shows it wires it differently than our old CCM module also as I look. Sorry for the crude pictures.

I just bought the 3-day online access to Ford and I think I'm beginning to understand all of this. I think the reason for the price difference above on the CCMs is that both of those are required if you want ACC with the Pre-Collision Assist (always on & detects vehicle, pedestrian, or object and can stop the truck automatically) but you only need the one for $326.81 for ACC without Pre-Collision Assist (CADS)

However, I don't believe this CADS system has anything to do with stop & go at all; I believe the normal ACC on the '18 can do stop & go. If anyone wants to read through everything I just did to come to this conclusion, I'm attaching a lot of .pdf files so let me know if you agree/disagree.

Edit: we need someone with a 2018 who doesn't have ACC (or IPMA) to add it without the CADS module to see if stop & go works. If anyone wants to take this on, I will help you with any wiring diagrams and FORScan programming directly via pm/email if you want.

OK cool I see what you’re seeing on your thinking hope you’re right because all we have to do is do a firmware update on the CCM or even change some parameters with forscan that be even better have breaking it from down to 12 mile an hour to complete a stop and go . Cool will also pour over the information you got here

Well look at the documentation that you posted I don’t know I do see that they had connectors are different from the CCM connector to the CADS connector. I do see that it is stated that the CCM his only takes you down to 12 mile an hour and disengages where the CADS completely take you to the stop and go from when I could read so far.

IPMA is not listed as an input for the CCM or PCM which leads me to agree with you. Stop and go should be available to us, with the changes being on the software side. The IPMA is the determining unit for pedestrian detection, not the CCM.

I'm curious to see if a software update on the IPC would show the stop and go functions. Are the part numbers for the IPC different between '16-'17 and '18 502A models?

I'm tempted to see if I can't do an as-built on an '18 502A IPC VIN and override my '16 VIN after programming.

Every year IPC has a different part # & different firmware. I haven't had an '18 IPC (or '18 firmware) to experiment with yet but I have installed a '17 IPC in my '16 truck and there are issues like fuel gauge not working (showing a warning about "0 miles to empty" on-screen) and the gears do not display correctly (pressing +/- on gear shift will drop/increase 2 gears at a time on the display). The PRNDM21 doesn't display correctly either. The fuel gauge not working can be made to work by writing a '16's eeprom image to the '17 cluster but there's no way (that I've found) to overcome the gear display issues.

I've already tried writing an '18's IPC as-built values but it does nothing because of the firmware. The '17-'18 IPC module also have more as-built addresses than previous years.

I still think stop & go would work even if the IPC wasn't changed out; we just wouldn't see any on-screen indicators/messages about it.

Good to know! So in theory, it sounds like we would be able to do an as built on the CCM and ABS with an '18 502A VIN without pre-collision assist but ACC, go back into FORScan and change out the VINs.

How would one handle the PCM? Probably wouldn't want to do an as-built due to the different trans/engine setup.

I'll give it a shot if you have PCM ideas.

I don't know if this information is useful or not. I did the acc and collision alert mod and after the mod I got another instrument cluster from livnitup that was not programmed yet for the acc and collision alert. The collision alert lights on the dash went off but no beeping sounds when I was passing someone as they were turning off the street in front of me. So the collision alert seems to still work without the IPC programming but just no sound

Liv,

Upon further research, I concur with you they look to be two different systems. Stop and go appears to be different from pre-collision with passenger detection, however, stop and go looks to be a requirement to have passenger detection as it has to fully stop the vehicle when a passenger is detected.
