2018 or wait?
Dear fx4_seafan: Never owned any foreign vehicles in my lfie, and I'm 70. I've had Chevys, Buicks, Fords, Cadillacs and a Dodge since 1966. My wife has bought Lexuses for herself, three since '90. They are good, but not perfect either. And, when something does go wrong out of warranty, it costs it seems WAY more than a domestic brand.
Oh, and my F150 has a CD player integrated into the Sync 3 system. I have hundreds of CDs and they sound better than radio or streaming. XM sounds good too.

As far as XM, it has to much break in's with DJs and talking. I'll stick to my Pandora, Amazon Music, or Spotify. I've always hated XM because I don't want to hear DJs, I want to hear music.

I love my just purchased 2018 XLT Supercrew Coyote. Has 94,000 miles and looks and runs like new. The injector noise in the idling engine is definitely noticeable and I can see why some people complain but I have heard it in earlier Fords built 20-30 years ago too. In comparison my old 2008 Triton was whisper quiet. Okay we'll see how this 2018 does, my old truck did pretty well in the 10+ years I ran it with no major problems so I'm going in to this deal with pretty high confidence.
The Fuel Pump Module failed on my 2019 XLT SCREW 5.0 with 39k miles. Was in a parking lot and Ford roadside assistance pays for towing up to 6 years or whatever powertran warranty is, schedule tow truck driver, and followed through making sure he was on time. Took a week to get repaired so still stressful. I plan to get the extended warranty while its still available. It seems to use about a quart of oil every 3k miles or so, which did surprise me, but don't think it will cause any problems, and just add a quart every so often, dash warp I haven't bothered to get repaired, and windshield may have little pits in it that I noticed wouldn't clean out, but haven't had that looked at yet. I really love this truck, everything else seems very solid. I really wouldn't be surprised it it went 200k miles with no major issues, and adding the extended warranty would still keep it well within my budget with peace of mind.
Had her since new, one owner. Sometimes “Thunks/Clunks when remote starting, but otherwise reliable so far on about 40k miles. Drives quiet and smooth on highway. It does have a wind whistle about 30-40mph, somewhere around the front windshield that I haven’t been able to find, but goes away over 50mph.
as for 3.5L ECO - IMHO, stay far away if you plan to keep long term. The turbos will go out and they are expensive to replace and they don’t go out at the same time, and they still have issues with exhaust manifolds warping and breaking bolts off in engine block - I know cuz I had one and will never do again.

I got a 2018 3.5 Xlt, other then a cracked valvecover, no issues, im at 61k. I believe the warped exhaust manifold issue was on previous years not the 2018. The warped dash isnt an issue for me, i installed a dash mat😃 problem solved
Update on my 2019 F150 5.0
Over 60k miles. Since then the only other issue was a rodent chewed through a fuel injection wire. Got a notice on my phone app that cylinder one was misfiring. Looked under the hood and found the wire chewed though. The fuel pump module was also minor issue. Not sure why in failed. Truck runs great. Tiny bit of knocking if it isn't warmed up in cold weather, but goes away, warped dash, and minor oil consumption, but none of that is an issue to me. Perfect vehicle for me. I've done so many things. I think it will hold up a long time. Really love driving this truck. Also didn't get the extended warranty. I keep it waxed and clean. Who knows how long I may keep driving this, could be long long time, although me goal is usually 10 years then trade it in.

Is there anyone out that that has a Ford F150 without a current sensor. Ford has been unable as of yet to program the replaced PCM to stop searching for an absent CURRENT SENSOR. Not a battery sensor which it does have.
