2018 5.0L with Multiple Problems
When I bought my RCSB there was an identical one parked next to it, although a diff plant. Mine came from the same plant as yours and they both made identical noises.
id bet my bottom dollar they will tell you it is normal. I am like you btw, noises drive me nuts.

The Lariat was about 90% quieter than mine though, the salesman riding with us mentioned the Lariat might have different under body insulation/acoustic glass? Can anyone confirm? I know my lowly FX4 XLT does have the "Acoustic Glass" per the stamped label on the door glass.
Has anyone with the manual shifting sound checked their fluid level? I know that sounds like a silly question, but with some of the 6R80s they were leaving the factory substantially low on fluid. When I hear that sound...it just sounds like a hydraulic fluid that's been aerated or is cavitating.
Here's an example of what it sounds like. I was looking for a video of something more similar to these transmissions, but this (a hydraulic pump) was all I could find quickly:

A 90% reduction in sound is a lot. Was the Lariat trans warmed up? I would be happy if it's a sound insulation issue. Seems like most people who complain about the gear change whine have the 5.0. To me, it sounds like a gear spinning loose in low fluid or vane pump/gear cavitation.
1. They can't replicate my transmission slipping issue
2. They can't replicate my clunk on warm start
3. They fixed the startup rattle with the TSB mentioned here several times, lets hope it works
4. They aimed the headlights
5. They state the whine at idle and the whine when shifting are normal, and told me "there's nothing else they can do." Told me that the next thing I have to do is "contact Ford and get them to do what I want." Whatever that means.
Still happy with this dealership, and I LOVE this damn truck, just the shifting/whining issues that I still DO NOT accept as normal, especially with all the replies from others stating theirs do not whine! I've shown my video to a few buddies at work and they all agree that something is not normal. From the sound of it and from the slip I'm having, I wonder what the fluid level is? I've driven so many other vehicles lately trying to find another new vehicle that makes weird noises like this, and so far, EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. has been completely silent.
I don't know what to do next.....So frustrating any ideas? Can they really just refuse to look at the truck for the noise because they've deemed it normal? Do I have any recourse?
Felix,
I posted this in another thread, not sure if you read it. My 2018 3.5 has been at the dealer for like a month. I've had and driven three separate 2018 5.0s as rentals in the mean time. I can tell you they have all whined louder than my ecoboost. Two out of the three rattle like crazy, both the deceleration one, as well as the 5.0 I'm driving now makes this rattle when giving it like throttle. These are the noisiest trucks of all time, and they are all brand new with less than 5k on them, haha.

Like I've said, seems like the dealer is just saying "normal." So I'm not sure what my options are now. The service manager told me "maybe it's because you're an engineer, you're over thinking it." Hmmm
Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I don't wanna be a PITA if this really is a normal noise, I'll just have to get used to it, but the fact that other people are saying they dont have it, and the one 5.0 Lariat I drove didn't do it as loud, leads me to believe that something is amiss here.....

Seems to me these guys are trained to make customers feel like they're the problem. In other words, a perfect example of 21st century customer service.
Yeah...no, not overthinking it. I've been fed that same line from my dealership too with the issues I've had with mine. When I started asking questions about mine, they actually asked me if I was an engineer...then told me that if I was a mechanic I wouldn't be nearly as picky. It was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

I'm an engineer too. That, coupled with OCD...man...noises in these make me nuts. I obsess over them. I wish I was one of those people who could care less. Honestly, I think its tough to get real answers and comparisons. Many of the people here that claim theirs is quiet...wouldn't YOU love to drive it? I mean who knows if they drove in a isolated area, with their windows down and really listened.
As far as normal, I guess it depends on definition of normal? Normal as in it's normal for the truck to sound like a big POS? Maybe, lol.
I understand your frustration man.
