Most all f150 have the same issues. Mine did and I had all the TSBs performed. They did help about 75%, but still does do it. I have just gotten used to it and figure if the motor or tranny gives me issues later on down the road, then it will be documented. At least being that I am attorney, my law suit will be free if I ever have to file one, I hope I dont.

Now for the warped dash, I thought it was just an ugly dash, that is pretty cheesy indeed. I have owned mostly Lexus and Acura cars for the past 10 years so I am used to pretty flawless cars, both reliable and extremely tight fit and finish. However I am a truck person at heart and unless it is a 500+ hp car, I won't own a "car" again. With that being said I have owned a lot of F150, Sierras, and Tacomas over the years. Albeit in the 90s and 2000s.

My truck has all the same issues except for the trans slip. In place of that I had the start/stop turn off the engine even tho it was disabled via the button and made me shift to park to restart.... I feel ya man, sucks dropping big bucks to have s bunch of issues and some recals.

Short of that issue you had the one time, going into third gear..I think they all do the rest of your list. My 3.5 has been in the shop for a month, and I've had three separate 2018 5.0s. They are the loudest, clunkiest, most rattling, whining vehicle ever. Hell they wine so much youd swear they were an EcoBoost. I think the clunk you refer to when starting after being warm is the driveshaft slaming, someone discovered this in a video they took. You'll notice, it doesnt do the clunk during auto start stop.

So yeah, most all your issues are shared by everyone else. Normal? Idk lol.

Appreciate all the responses fellas. I’m in the exact situation you all mention. Dropped some good cash on this truck, remembering how awesome my older Fords were, and now I’m just really worried about all these problems. Not to mention I definitely agree that they’re whiny, clunky, etc. I hope the dealer can provide some fixes. But I’m getting the impression that most haven’t had any luck with fixing the problems.

About this buyback mentioned above, if I decide to go that route, how do I start the process? I’m definitely going to let the dealer try to make it right. They’ve actually been really understanding and badass thus far, so I feel it’s the right thing to do. Although I did have to start the case with Ford before I felt like they actually took my worries seriously. So we’ll see.

And I never thought I’d say it either, but I might be going BACK to Ram if these problems can’t be fixed. Is there a term for someone sensitive to weird noises? Ugh!

I've said it a few times myself....minus the Rebel part. I'll probably wait for the new Tundra. I like the look of the RAM, but I'm not willing to say that Chevy or RAM are any better. I'd move if the dealership experience was better, however. With Ford, the customer service and dealerships are terrible. If I have problems with a RAM and I can count on the dealership diagnosing and fixing it, I'll gladly trade in my F-150 for a RAM.

I know these are complex machines, but I’m also really sensitive to any weird noises. So I dunno. Maybe I’m the problem! Lol

weevil - thanks. It was a good excuse to josh around with the GoPro. And I thought the shot underneath was actually really cool. Do you know if it’s normal for the front driveshaft to spin, then not spin like that? Just curious. I was in 2h the whole video. I also asked Ford if they would watch my video. They said nope. Haha
Oh I comletcomp agree that it can't be normal. I just know there is not a fix now and to date. I'm really hoping Ford does something about it .

Are you saying the truck was continuing to move forward when the front driveshaft stopped in the video? I assumed you were coming to stop signs or something. If you were moving, it must be some sort of coasting mode that decouples the engine from the transmission.

Correct. I was either accelerating or steadily driving forward in all parts of the video, to capture the shift whining. I cut out all the coasting and slowing down. It doesn’t make any noise while slowing. Just thought it was strange that it was spinning during the entire video, aside from that last clip.

I’ve read about the straight cut gears as well, but I’ve been a maniac finding and listening to every F-150 I come across/drive by. And NONE (even the one I test drove with the dealer that also DID whine when shifting) made the idling whine noise as loud as mine. Including a friend of mine who has the EB, but same tranny. His idles/shifts nice and quiet.

You mention a buyback, what’s that? Just like it sounds like? Ford “refunds” my money or buys the truck back? I’ve heard of Lemon Laws, but the whole prospect is a bit terrifying and intimidating.
"I’ve been a maniac finding and listening to every F-150 I come across/drive by" Haha, this is me too!!

Mine seems abnormally loud @ idle as well.

Question: While idling parked/standing still, put your truck in M (holding the brakes) and shift back and forth between 1 & 2. How loud is the gear noise you hear and does it seem like the same low speed gear change noise?
