Definitely not how I wanted to start my commute to work on this fine Sunday morning....
2.7 5k miles, truck started shaking, check engine light came on, and thermostat was red lined. Motor was not hot at all.
Not sure how I feel, but it’s my first Ford and I know neither one of my Tacomas ever saw the back of a tow truck....
*UPDATE*
So mother Ford has saw fit to keep my truck another day. She was also gracious enough to grace me with a spare while I await its arrival, after some stern requests.
The service ice manager told me it appears to be some sort of electrical issue, as the truck didn’t actually overheat, but acted like it did. The shaking sensation was apparently “limp mode” and he verified that the CEL code was for an engine overheat, but there was no evidence of overheating.
They em are going to drive it tomorrow to “reproduce the situation” and see what caused it. Who knows. I’m just hoping they find the problem.

Reason: update
Yeah thanks man. I’m hoping it’s just a water pump that failed or a sensor, but the shaking has me worried about permanent damage to the motor. I’m hoping not
Just a thought. Was a sensor telling the computer that the engine was overheating? The computer would shut down cylinders and pump air through them protecting the engine. That could explain shaking.
Good luck, bet your back on the road in a day or so.
could be a lot of things.... I once had a plastic fan blade break and cause the fan to shake and whole truck to shake - thought I broken motor mount.
Wouldn't compare this to a taco as they are veru diff vehciles. These are almost as reliable and, except for tight trail off roaring, far more capable at everything.
Unless you saw oil drilling, chances are its pretty minor, albeit frustrating.
