2016 Tracking Thread
So a bit more bad news for those of us with Trucks that were built but not shipped. I ran into the GM from my dealership today and he said I likely won't see my truck until the end of the year or early January. Ordered 9/15 and was built 10/26
He said there was a hold and they were not shipping the 2016's. He wasn't sure why but he said it may just be that they don't want to do the dealer orders until they unload more of the back inventory of 2015's. He really didn't know why but said the trucks were built being but stored at the plant and are not getting released for several weeks at least.
Hope that isn't the case but they haven't lied to me yet and he would have no reason to.

It also doesn't make sense because there are 2016's on lots... Local lot has a couple XLT's
From a business standpoint that just doesn't make sense to hold custom orders. Dealer stock? Sure... Custom orders are cash just waiting to change hands.
My contact (not a GM) who is the fleet and commercial sales director said this in his latest contact: "FYI, there is currently a railcar shortage and we have been seeing delays between 3 to 14 days."

Like I said though he wasn't sure why the hold only that they were all sitting in DB and it didn't look like they would be released soon.
Railcar shortage makes sense. I know that booking anything on the UP lines out here is very difficult because there just isn't open time on the rails. For those of us in the west that could be a compound problem since they have to be transferred from CSX to UP. They could sit in the UP yard until cars are available as well.

Also, if that is true, then why no communication to the buyer about why they were built but are sitting there not being shipped out? I think most buyers understand shipping problems and delays beyond the manufacturers control. What they don't understand is not being able to get any information or explanation. I am not saying the car manufacturers are any better, I went through the same issues with my RAM 2500, but it seems simple from the customers perspective. We were able to track the wife's BMW every step of the way right to the at home delivery.

Whatever I hear back I'll relay back to all of you. Don't expect a fast answer though. My guy works on two speeds. Slow & Stop.
