Default Trans problems

So I was driving today and have heard a loud wine from the trans when it was in N with the clutch out, and on the highway it starting making crunching noise and when I put it in N and let the clutch out it was loud cranking and crunching. So I just got it towed home.

So 99% of me is leaning towards the throwout bearing. I can still drive it but its hard to shift into gear, it was all ways hard to shift but it got worse. Any ideas before I pull the trans?

Throwout bearing, and possibly a worn out pressure plate.

I just went to try and shift the trans, with the truck off it would shift at all. I have to really hammer it to get it in gear with the engine off. So I think it may be the trans. Would it be better to rebuild it or just go get a junkyard one?

No. Get a junkyard trans so you can get the truck going right away and then rebuild yours so you can take your time. Then you'll have a spare too. I've got three under my house.

^^^^Hahahahaha.

The one in my truck I got for $45 on half price day. I wouldn't pay more than $250 for one and I'd be pissed if I had to pay that much.
