Default throttle positioning sensor

got a 95 f150. check engine light was coming on and off so I took it to shop for that and alot of other things. They said that the light is on because the TPS is out of range and that the part to replace it is not manufactured anymore. I see alot of TPS's online and am not sure what he is talking about now. He said the sensor is JB welded together and to take it apart could cause it to break and then I would be out of that part. Is this a fairly simple task that I could do in my driveway? Any step by step instructions?
thanks in advance

I just bought a TPS for my 89 yesterday from NAPA. Basically you pull the throttle body off, unscrew the TPS, screw new one in, clean up surfaces, and put throttle body back on.

My TPS was bad but i didnt have a check engine light .you can tell it bad by hooking a voltage reader up to the connecter look up in a hanyes. as far how hard it is it very easy
1.take intake system off
2. take the 4 tb bolts out
3. disconnect coolant line (check the condition of the line if so replace)
4. Take the connecter off the TBS (be care not to brake the tab)
5. remove the IAC (idle air control valve)
6.remove the TPS (keep a eye on how it went on , (I think you have to turn it clockwise?)
6. I cleaned my TB with TB cleaner
7. bolt back on and Done

Hope this helped (please correct me on any mistakes)

Did you try the dealer ? That's my new trend. I rather spend an extra 30 bucks on an oem then having to replace a part multiple times. From ford I paid 130 after taxes I think. It was 50 more then a parts store but a previous owner already replaced it with one and it already was shot. Just my advice, take as you want

thanks everyone. I finally got a chance to look at it and it looks to me like a metal tube about 3/8" diameter is jb welded to the bottom front of the throttle body (if you are standing in front of the truck looking down on the TB). The metal tube is bent and attached to a thicker rubber hose that looks like it goes around to a black hexagon shaped pillar that is attached to the water pump. does that sound right?? what is the name of this tube/ hose fitting? are these available? Like I said, my mechanic said the TPS was unavailable but maybe he was talking about this tube fitting to the throttle body? i dont know much about cars but it doesnt look like this is a complicated part to make even if its unavailable...lemme know if i'm wrong. thanks!

...and also, I do have a new TPS for this truck in my garage. The reason he didnt fix this check engine light(TPS out of range he said) is that he was afraid of this part breaking off. is it posssible to change the TPS without moving or screwing up the jbwelded tube fitting??

I love it when people think we can see it in our mines what there talking about. Just do it! If it breaks fix it or buy a new one.

If it breaks I am f$%ked and cant get to work tomorrow. And what if they dont make that part anymore? then I'd be out of a vehicle, right? I was just wondering if they make this part anymore, what the name is etc. I will take a picture so you can see it in your mind. sorry
