shift knob
Yeah.. it was on the truck when i got it and i didnt really like it but its never bothered me enough to go out and find a **** to change it.. lol

I guess its kinda like the stacks on my truck.. i dont really understand why some one put them on it but they kinda just grew on me.. it gives the truck character.. im 100% sure no one will ever find a truck like mine lol

Yeah when i first got the truck home the first thing i did was went and got my sawzall and was going to cut the stacks off.. but after i got under the truck and almost about to cut them off i noticed there wasnt any cats mufflers or anything.. the only thing it had were glass packs at the bottom of the stacks in the bed.. so i got worried if I cut them off it would be even louder than it already was and the cops would get on to me about it so i left them on there planning to find a set of mufflers and weld them on.. but then they just grew on me.. and i havent been able to cut them off yet lol

Looking at my shifter it looks like the **** should just pull off.. check and see if theres any set screws in the stock **** if not just try and pull it off.. they might have used some kind of glue or somthing from the factory
I am here because I am ready to make a shifter **** out of a real 8 ball and was looking for tips. I have done this before to several beater cars I have had but not on a ford.
Since I cant find any help, I'll post what I have done in the past.
Once I get the **** off I'll upload a pic of what the metal looks like.
In the past the ***** I took off were molded over the metal lever and there were tabs on the lever so once the plastic is hardened it cant come off by being pulled, you have to cut into it, then you have to drill out the 8 ball (this takes a long time and do it outdoors because it will smoke and stink, go slow because I have cracked one before by pushing too hard.
You have to drill the hole big enough for the tabs and glue it on.
What I did was wrap a little duct tape around the shifter where the edge of th e8 ball will be till it is thick enough to fill the inner diameter of the hole in the ball, so it doesn't wobble while drying and be crooked, first drip a couple drips of super glue in the hole in the 8ball, then I squirt some silicone in the hole about half wayfull then apply super glue to the shift **** it'self and push the ball on the shift lever, make sure the duct tape is all the way inside the hole so you cant see it and let it dry. the super glue will keep it on real good but with brute force you can still twist and pull it off of there with your hand.
Also I have seen those 8ball shifters at auto parts stores for like 5 bucks. they're plastic. it has a set screw to remove it. A REAL 8 ball can be ordered online for 4.99 plus shipping. I ordered a gold one this time because my interior is tan and actually matches pretty well. I know this is an old post but i hope this helps
