If the trucks are the same. My ext cab short bed 5.8 4x4 was faster than my buddies 5.0 reg cab short bed. Well, 0-60's were. Self timed with stopwatches. So theres some wiggle room.

trucks are not built for speed but it comes down to the engine trans and gear ratios my f150 is slow as hell but can pull a 1995 f150 long bed behind it with out even bogging down. another one has a 5.8 4 speed with over drive and 4.10 gears it will go fast but have some problems towing stuff sort of.
so get a short bed reg cab 2 wheel drive with a 5.8 5 speed and 4.10 gears if you are looking for speed.

Correction on Collector's stuff, if you want SPEED go with 2.73's or something. Not much get up, but lots of go, eventually.

If you want earth turning torque and amazing off the line times, go with 4.10's or 4.58's. Lots of quarter milers use 4.10's, not sure what half milers use, but I'm going to assume 3.73 or 3.55.

Most likely 3.73

If you want looooots of speed, throw on a little taller tire too, has the same effect. But with our old trucks, im scared to hit 80. Especially with 33's. I also almost took out a gaurdrail the other day being a stupid teenager. Never again.

Yeah, my truck tops out at 75... and I'm lucky to get her going that fast after 5 miles. 3.55's, 2inch lift, and 31's, with a 5.0 reg cab shortbox.

I'll move pretty quick to 60 though.

ok well my truck isnt a lifted truck, its pretty low, ive hit 90(top speed) in like 1/3 of a mile, if i put a 5.8 and "stroke" it it'll be a little faster right, im into speed more than towing or offroading, i have a 5.0 but i want to add performance parts into in, any suggestions?
