Default Quick ac question

I few days ago, my high side port on my ac started hissing out freon. When I pushed in the ball, it would stop. I haven't had a cap on it in spat a year. So I went and got a high pressure port, but it has no valve in it, just an o ring. It appears that the cap seals it off. Is this right? Here are pics of new and old ports.

Its stock 134a. This does appeare to be a conversion fitting though. I took it back, but cant find a high pressure valve. Can get any high pressure valve that fits right. Itndoesnt have to be a ball one does it?

Is this a dealer only item? None of the parts stores here have it.

The new one what? Valve? Is like the ones on this truck or will it work? I always thought these valves were universal, which is why I'm wondering why I'm having to look so hard for it, although I don't see many ball type valves.

My cousins Chevy, that ball valve was leaking. He got one from AutoZone, like $12. The whole thing unscrewed and looked like the one you have, except it had the ball in it. That's the whole point of changing it, the ball isn't sealing.

Yea, I know lol. That's why I was mad when I opened it, but then wondered if maybe some how a little plastic cab was made to hold back all that pressure, but it did seem to seal well, just didn't seem strong enough and then I couldn't pull it off without freon going everywhere. I guess I'll check the oreillys, autozone, and advance on the other side of town to see if they have it. Guy at autozone told me it was a dealership only part, but I had a hard time believing that since i have seen it before, just not often.

No the cap is supposed to prevent freon from leaking out if the valve doesn't seal, it's not supposed to hold back all 150+ psi of pressure.

Yea, I didn't think so. No one, including ford had this valve thing. Turns out my friends dad's radiator shop does ac line repaired and they also have this valve. I should have it Monday.
