Default Problems with the 302/351?

What are the standard or usual problems with the 302 and the 351 an if possible the 460 if anyone knows. (head gaskets, heads, pistons, bearings, cooling, oil?)

Im trying to get info on the engines and their usual problems before a buy one, right now I have the 300 and Im getting a v8.

it seems like the 302/351s are always bogged down by sensors (MAF/MAP, O2, EGR) etc etc so just make sure you have all those good and you should have a bullet proof engine

They all have relatively the same stuff! You want a MAF engine, 96' or older. Or 04' and newer! Crash tests for 97'-03' are the worst (re: deaths per million) of the worst. Note: Based on 03' model tested. I am assuming that infers that generation of F-150.http://www.bridger.us/2002/12/16/Cra...operVsFordF150

agreed...

as with any engine...if it is well maintained it will last darn near forever....

what kills them is lack of oil changes and too many heat cycles if they have cooling issues

well yeah i know the I6's have the same stuff, but i just wanted to touch on it for the V8's. i know from experience that a bad EGR and O2 can basically cut performance and MPG almost in half.

x2. Doesn't get much simpler than that, And what a difference just 20 degrees makes, day after day! You can even match excessive temps to many symptoms.

The 302s like to snap their oil pump shafts.

The 460s like to rip stumps from the ground.
