As far as changing out the rear gears goes... What all does that entail? They say there is no such thing as a stupid question but I'm honestly not too sure what this accomplishes?

Thanks again guys
it can turn faster ie more revolutions for less power from the engine. someone can explain it better im sure but it gives you better pick up the engine has to work less to get it up to speed. my truck can pull a dead f150 from a dead stop up to 55mph easy its built for towing. if i swap out the rear gears to 4.10s i might not be able to tow as much but i can get it going faster. thats what i was told and it makes sense
as for headers no idea but hooker headers are good and headman are very good for your aplication

underdrive pulleys are also good i think. 5-15 hp increase is what they say but only expect 10 tops. there only 90-150 bucks.

I totaly forgot about that they are good all they do is free up some hp that the engine wastes spinning the belt you might have to get a smaller belt just to let you know. also there its port and polishing the heads getting bigger lifters so you can get more air in and out. i don't know how far you want to go but a turbocharger or supercharger they both will require an engine rebuild so the engine can take the extra boost

i didnt have to get a smaller belt for mine thankfully. the tensioner took up the slack fine. but yours might be different for some weird reason. also just the drop in K&N helps plenty. i did notice with the filter i gotta reset my computer every 2-3 weeks to maintain the power. after the 2-3 weeks my mpg start going up and i lose power lol. who needs mpg when i can do burn outs

To my understanding a higher gear gives you more tow power at the sacrifice to mileage. So a 4.10 would give you more power, but worse mileage. Like I said, to my understanding.

You guys still missed the important question, stick or auto? '94 5.0 auto is MAF and will be more responsive to changes.

Your engine is MAP, not MAF.

MAP adjusts fuel to air, based on manifold pressure. It is limited as to a set range of air flow. Any additional air flow over that results in an over lean condition. A side effect to that is predisposition to ping under load. A K&N drop in is sufficient w/o causing an over-lean condition.

Only MAF engines can & do measure "actual" air intake flow. The ECU then can & does effectively accommodate w/ the correct & adequate proportion of fuel.

It is an Auto Trans.

Changing the rear end might be somewhere in the future but i don't see it happening too soon. Maybe after some mods later on. The underdrive pulleys sound like some good easy HP gains though.

How do you reset the computer after the K&N drop in and should everyone have to do that? Sounds kinda annoying.

As for it being an auto with MAF should I go the CAI route or stick with the drop in?

disconect the battery for like 5-10 min. and its up to you if you want to do it. i noticed a decent mpg increase after the ecu adjusted. before then i had a little throttle response improvement and my guess of prob 3 hp gain like the other guy said. for now you can just get the drop in and see if you like the change and spend the other 200 bucks on something else. price was what pushed me for just the filter. also i have been told our air boxes are pretty efficient as is. just get a bigger "snorkel" from the 4.9 or 5.8.
