Default Not pullin in overdrive

First i would like to say im a die hard ford guy. Im an owner of a 04 competition orange mach 1 and have owned 3 other mustangs. I recently bought a 95 f150 extended cab eddie bauer 4x4. it has 147000 miles with 35's and 7 inch lift. It has an E4OD, I was told the tranny was rebuilt recently. It shifts good but the problem is that when it shifts in overdrive the speed dies down and you can give it more gas until about half trottle it downshifts. As you give it more gas the speed wont pick up it just slowly slows down especially when going up an incline. The engine doesnt race up like it is slipping and the truck runs great. In all other gears it pulls great. I know a 302 isnt the most powerfull and a E4OD isnt the best but the 35's shouldnt bogg it down that bad. This is my first f150 and i would appreciate if anyone could help.

So it's only pulling like 3 1/2 horsemen? Do KOEO & KOER error code scans. Transmission related error codes will prefix P0700 thru P0900 & P1700 thru P1900. It's been a long time since I had to screw w/ my transmission, but isn't there a Kick down adjustment? I think I remember it required feeler gauges to adjust it & it was kind of a pain to hit the sweet spot.

The '95 won't have those codes as it's OBDI and those are OBDII codes, but there will be OBDI transmission codes if a problem is sensed.

Leave it to "JCMS" to be completely accurate! So they're peppered throughout code #'s that end at 998. Here's a link to self test w/ the most prevalent codes.http://www.extreme-check-engine-ligh...%20Decoder.htm

sounds like a tranny issue to me or a fuel issue...

I am working on a 95 F150 4x4 right now with the E4OD....and it has 2.47:1 axle ratios and are Limited Slip and it pulls great in OD...even on hills...

What rear axle ratio do you have and what elevation do you live at?
What rpm and speed are you running in OD when you have the problem?

The ratio is 3:23 stock gear and I live at sea level on the coast. It shifts in overdrive about. 55
And to get it to shift I have to lift of the pedal. I don't know the rpm cause I don't have a tack
Planning on geting a cheap one to see where I'm running at. But when it shifts the speed dies
And when you get to almost half throttle when it feels like its going to accelerate it downshifts
Thanks if you can help

First off the 3.23 gear is way to high to turn a 35" tire. You should be more in the 3.90 - 4.27 range (maybe even into the 4.56 area if you off road at all) at least to get your RPM's where they need to be.
This isn't cheap to do but you are definitely geared wrong.

I have a much lighter Bronco with the 302, E4OD with 3:55 gears and it is a dog. Your rig with taller gears and taller tires has to be a land slug. Change the gears to 4:10's and watch it come alive. Your asking way too much from the 302 to pull that tall of gears and tires. Do you know anybody with tires that are much smaller like the stock 28" tires? If so, swap tires with him and give it a try. Your problem will be apparent.
