This selector valve reservoir feeds the high pressure in-line pump located on frame rail before the engine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
You are exactly correct, I failed to mention the low pressure pump. That selector valve also has a fuel filter in it, if you didn't know. I had trouble with mine one time and found out it had one, changed it, and bam. fixed.

I suppose you could tweek a MAP a little w/ a moderate airflow increase & an adjustable F/P/R., w/ access to a dyno. But, w/o the dyno, you'd probably be p*ssing in the wind. MAF's work off actual air flow, MAP's you have a range to fall into or else, things can get messy.

Geese! 2 WTF's in 24 hrs. So, is this filter inline, or internal? replaceable (Anyparts store or dealer only) or reusable? Pain in the *ss, or NBD? Mines been there for twenty three years, might deserve a look see. Location of this selector valve?

well i dont think my truck has a inline booster pump. i been under the truck twice and traced the fuel lines and the only thing that is inline is the fuel filter that i already replaced. there is definately something wrong cause when i am driving u feel the truck kinda miss and sorta buck and jerk, and it feels like there is something plugging it up. i took the oxygen sensor out and drove it around to see if the cats were clogged and there was no change in the way it ran. i am gonna check fuel pressure tomorrow to see what it is and go from there. i will keep u posted. i got to check the plug wires, they are new but i have had bad experience with the kind that is on there in the past on other cars.

Btw, my truck is a 1995 regular cab short bed 2 wheel drive 4.9l 5 spd with 31x10.5 that came on the truck when i bought it

You don't have the frame mounted pump or dual function reservoir, they're on '89 and before.

I don't know what he's talking about, there isn't a filter in there. I looked. The selector valve is the dual function reservoir with all the fuel lines teeing into it right behind the high pressure pump. If you really want to look for yourself the reservoir unscrews like an oil filter but don't lose or damage the large o-ring that encircles it.

Look, My 1986 F150 HAD A FILTER IN THE SELECTOR. I know, I changed the gawd damn thing. Mabe YOUR truck doesnt have one, Mine did. 1986 F150 5.0L FI dual tanks, selector is operated by fuel pressure. I was wrong, only the 1986 had it, which is what my truck was. So sue me I should have stated "I think" it has a filter.

From another forum :"If you have a true 86 selector valve then you may have a filter inside the valve that needs to be changed. This filter was only used in 1986 and not in 1987. "

1987 trucks don't have a filter in the tank, 1986 does.
Apologies for the confusion.

I wasn't trying to be rude. I meant mine doesn't have a filter and I didn't think ymeskis would. I'm not familiar with the older years, but the dual function reservoir is pretty much the same, minus the filter.

Well, I wonder if they make some for a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that has iridium?
2009 Hyundai is a horse of a different color! I'd go w/ the brand that the manufacturer suggests, and look for a Finewire model in their selection. AC/Delco rapidfire x2 Plat finewires are great. For stock gap Platnums, that's a good way to go. But they don't like their gap stretched. Motorctaft came out w/ their own x2 plat Finewires not to long ago. I'm guessing for a stock gap plug, they're great! The finewire actually addresses temp problems normal x2 plats have creating & disposing of excessive combustion chamber heat.

As good an example in Rudeness as I've been to "JCMS" during my 1200+ posts, I fear, Rudeness........is not & will never be his "cup of tea". Knowing we share to same vintage truck, he does like to tell me, yet another thing about my truck I was previously unaware of (like the cruise control speed sensor on my tranny). Anyway, one thing I've learned about F-150's is "never" & "always" are two words to avoid. "On my year, engine, trans type" , yada,yada,yada.......always seems to work. Certainly not to say your not welcome here, but 86' isn't technically part of this Forum heading, so that might have added to the mix up! Personally, I appreciate the fact that I don't need a decoder ring to decipher your posts, so keep em coming! One year off & EFI is close enough.
