Default no *****

quick question, i just bought a 95 f150 4.9 5 spd. my question is, this thing has no ***** at all. gets to about 2500 rpm and the truck wont get out of its own way. cant even spin the tires if i wanted to i know that these trucks are not rev friendly, but mine just wont go. my mpg is 10 and the best i have gotten is 11.4. if i take it on the expressway in 5th gear at 70 mph my foot is almost on the floor and when i go up a overpass i loose speed. i put gas in both tanks to see if one if the pumps are bad but no matter what tank i use it still runs the same. i just replaced the fuel filter and the coil. any ideas? i am going to check fuel pressure this weekend, what should the fuel pressure be at? is there an inline fuel pump or just intank?

What gears do you have? There's a tag on the rear diff......or you can gimme the axle code off the doorjamb. These have an inline high pressure pump and fuel pressure at the rail should be between 35-40 PSI.

Seafoam, Run Error code scan, check Vac, fuel pressure, Coil could be getting weak. Ign. sys. in poor general condition. Injectors poorly atomizing. Base time set too low. Dirty IAC, EGR valve &/or portway. Dirty air filter. Contaminated &/or slow switching o2 sensor (these problems don't show as an error code until catastrophic failure, but severely effect drivability & MPG long before) , bad ECT sensor. They all contribute to drivability problems & less MPG! Your problem(s) are right there under your hood. Gonna have to get your hands dirty!!

Just make sure you dont get rear ended cause it might not be able to recover for a while.

I think she might not be running right. My previous truck, 1996 F150, had a 4.9L 5-sp and 2.73 axle code. It could be rolling,say.... maybe 10 mph on dry pavement and when I floored it would scratch the tires for a few seconds, till it revved 1st on out, and it came with 31x10.50 Michelins. Mine didn't seem to be slow till midrange area, maybe 50-75 or so. Both ends of the sped spectrum it seems to run good, top and bottom end speed.

BTW, the fuel pump is in the tank on these models, 1989 down have the inline fuel pump (I think, my 1986 FI 302 had inline fuel pump)
Check the fuel pressure, those trucks have to run higher pressure because the fuel injectors are only 12/lb per hr instead of the 19/lb per hr the v8's have (for vapor lock purposes from what I have read, not sure though)
