Default lug nut tricks

Anyone know any tricks for getting lug nuts off. My friend bought a 96 like mine and we can't seem to get the lug nuts off. I assume they were put on by a dealer or service station and we can't budge them. They are the two piece acorn lug nut and the chrome parts are broken off. I have been trying to remove them with a breaker bar and a 3/4 in socket, but the socket seems a little big and I'm afraid of stripping them. Anyone know how big they are without the chrome covering? Should I squirt them with WD40? Any other ideas? Don't want to break anything!

can always hit it with a real penatrant, such as PB blaster. watch the brakes though. Try an impact wrench- chances are that's why its on so tight in the first place. Drive to a tire store or something and tell them your problem- most places would be happy to knock those off for you. They're compressors may pack a better punch than yours, if you have one.

+1! When the lugs were stuck(rusted) onto my friend's chevy, it took both of us, one of each side of the 4 way and with a good yank it came free

Thats how i bent my hitch, and my exhaust. The best way is two straps tied to an old tire in the middle. Kinda of a very stiff shock absorber.

Well, the ball. Not the reciever. The part the ball bolts to. And it was about 20 hard yanks with a fullsize bronco. I about died every pull. My boss noticed it. Instead of being 90 degrees from the road, its about 75-80 now. Still works, just bent a little bit. Annd exhaust tip smashed.

I had a heck of a time loosening the lug nuts when I did the front brakes. I used a torque wrench which is pretty long, but it was like trying to push/pull the house. I could not find a piece of pipe to make a cheater bar and was about to give up the job. I thought about picking up an electric impact wrench, but there was not one easily available for a good price... I decided to go back to the garage and just put some real effort into it, I just put all my strength into it and managed to loosen them all up. I did use a cordless drill/driver with a socket adapter to finish taking them off.
Of course, I had to go to the chiropractor to adjust my old back a few days later

The half measure:

For the next time I went to Harbor Freight and got an electric (corded) impact wrench
