Default Help

Last week I hit a big puddle and it started spuddering immediatly but kept running. I drove it about 20 miles thinking I got the dist wet and I'd dry it up. Well it smoothed out eventually and ran good again. Today it started spuddering again. Went to town bought a fuel filter, rotor, cap plugs and wires. It cleared up before I got home. Put all that stuff on and it ran good. Just went to the store and it did it again on the highway. It is random and runs smooth but it does it when I accelerate then will smooth out. Also I had the computer checked while in town and he said it showed no codes but the enging light comes on and off. I havent done a fuel pressure test but thats what I'm thinking next. What does a fuel pump act like when it's going out? It has 145,xxx miles. When it doesn't spudder it runs good.

Did you check the module where it plugs in? Or check for a cracked vacuum line, maybe puddle cracked one.

Ain't buying no codes. Follow sticky post at the top of the page or buy an Equis /innova obd 1 for Fords code reader (#3145) for $20. & check F/P, including bleed down time. How old is your o2? Yr/eng.?

Yes, OBDI. You don't need a scanner.

You don't need a voltmeter unless your check engine light bulb is burned out. It will flash the codes on the check engine light. You don't need the scanner but you can buy one if you wish. You get the same codes either way but some don't like counting the flashes.
